Glen Ellyn Park District hosts Boo Bash 2017 for Halloween fun!

Posted on: September 18, 2017

With the approaching Halloween holiday, many parents find themselves scrambling to figure out the best way to take their children trick-or-treating. Trick-or-treat time frames often begin at 3:00 or 4:00 pm, before most parents are home from work. Trick-or-treating is expected to be completed by 7:00 pm, which for many families is right in the middle of dinnertime. A better solution for children ages 2-8 is to attend the Glen Ellyn Park District’s long-standing annual Boo Bash celebration on Saturday, October 14th from 10:00 am – 11:30 am.

Boo Bash is a fun, kid-friendly event where participants can trick-or-treat around Maryknoll Park and visit with our costumed characters.  They can make crafts, have hot cider and treats, and this year will enjoy action-packed comedy courtesy of Bobby “Circus Boy” Hunt,” said Jeannie Robinson, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Services for the Glen Ellyn Park District.  “It’s a great alternative to traditional trick-or-treating, because it’s during the day in a safe park district environment.”

Children ages 2-8 are invited, but must register in advance. Participants should attend in costume and bring along their favorite trick-or-treat pail. The fee for residents is $10, $15 for non-residents. Parents must attend with their children, but can enter at no charge.

Boo Bash is typically full each year, with a maximum of 175 participants,” added Robinson. “We see many families return year after year for this great event. They like that it’s a safer alternative to traditional trick-or-treating and because it includes additional activities for the kids beyond the treat trail. They also love that the characters passing out treats are ones they know and love, like Ninja Turtles, Olaf, and Minions, among others.”
