Explore your parks at a Winter Guided Nature Walk

Meet for relaxed, guided walks around Glen Ellyn parks and preserve this winter and spring. Learn about the efforts underway to improve the natural features, while also searching for interesting plants and wildlife. Walks range from 1 hour to 1.5 hours and will be held rain, snow or shine. Led by the Park District’s Naturalist, Renae Frigo, the Guided Nature Walk series is free to attend and open to ages 18 and up. No registration is required.

Wednesday, January 23
Join us for a long walk around the perimeter of Village Green Park and the trails of Lambert Lake Nature Preserve. Learn about the community garden plots at Village Green and efforts the Village is taking to improve the ecological health of the Lambert Lake area.
Meet at: Village Green Park. Please meet outside of the main garage/concession building.
Time: 9am-10am

Wednesday, February 20
The Park District is working to enhance natural features of this park. We will walk the perimeter of the park, while explaining efforts to recreate an oak savanna habitat, convert a large section of the park into native prairie, enhance gardens for butterflies and pollinators, and improve the health of the small ponds and wetlands on site.
Meet at: Maryknoll Park. Meet near the pavilion in the smaller parking lot.

Wednesday, March 20
Churchill Woods Forest Preserve is a wonderful asset to the Glen Ellyn and Lombard area. Join us for a walk along the river to search for wildlife, then along the outskirts of Churchill Prairie Nature Preserve. The Forest Preserve District has done a great job of enhancing sections of ‘Babcock Grove’ where some massive oaks can be found.
Meet at: Churchill Woods Forest Preserve. Meet in the far eastern parking lot.
Time: 9am-10:30am

Wednesday, April 17
Churchill Park is a 23-acre natural area sandwiched between Geneva and St. Charles Road. Walk the trails through woodland, prairie and wetland ecosystems and learn about the plants and animals that call this park home.
Meet at: Churchill Park. Meet in the main parking lot on St. Charles Rd., located just east of Bloomingdale Rd.
Time: 9am-10am
