Successful soccer organizations to hold open tryouts in May

Posted on: January 8, 2019

As the popularity of soccer continues to grow throughout the United States and across the world, so are the opportunities for participants to develop all the qualities that lead to success in the sport. From kids under eight, all the way up to high school, there is a chance for your child to shine with Glen Ellyn Lakers FC and Midwest FC travel soccer teams.

Glen Ellyn Lakers FC is offered by the Glen Ellyn Park District, while Midwest FC cooperatively partners Glen Ellyn and Wheaton Park Districts.

Despite the fact Midwest FC will only be entering its second year and hasn’t yet developed the long winning history of the Lakers, both have had their share of success. In 2018, the organizations combined for 19 first-place finishes and 20 second-place finishes at events and tournaments throughout the year.

With the season set to begin in the fall, tryouts will be held throughout the month of May. Open to the public, specific tryout dates depend on the participant’s age group and gender. Pre-registration is required for tryouts.

Tryout Dates:

“Tryouts are a two-day process, and they include various drills that will test players’ skill levels. We also run various scrimmages, so we can see how players apply their skills in a game setting,” said soccer supervisor Brad Thomas. “Once tryouts are complete, our staff will determine which players are a best fit for the program, along with which team will fit them best.”

Both teams and all age levels will be coached and trained by the professional training group Future Pros, which will help players grow and develop across all skill levels.
