Free Things To Do in June 2019

The month of June is packed with events that you and your family can enjoy without spending a dime. 


June 7 • 8pm-10pm
Teen Splash Bash

Kids in grades 6-8 are invited to join us for a FREE pool party complete with a DJ and games at Sunset Pool in Glen Ellyn! Grab your swimsuit, money for food, and join your friends! The concession stand will be open until 9pm. There is no cost to attend, however, students must show a school ID. Incoming 6th Graders and students whose school does not provide an ID must have a parent check them in. No pre-registration required.


June 10 • 7pm-8:30pm
Summer Reading Ice Cream Social

Kick off the start of summer and Glen Ellyn Public Library’s ‘Game On: Summer Challenge’ with ice cream sundaes, ice pops, and fresh fruit at the library’s annual ice cream social. There will also be games and entertainment for everyone. Held at the Glen Ellyn Public Library.


June 12
Movie in the Park – The Muppet Movie

Join us for our first throwback Movie in the Park, in honor of the Glen Ellyn Park District’s 100-year anniversary! Enjoy a free showing of “The Muppet Movie” at Spalding Park. Take part in a special pre-movie activity beginning at 8:15pm and dress up like your favorite character from the film for a costume contest. The movie will begin between 8:30pm-9pm.


June 18 • 7pm
Storytime in the Park

Head to Surrey Park for nature-themed stories from amazing authors, music, and movement. Get there early – the first 100 attendees receive a free 100 Year Anniversary tote bag from the Glen Ellyn Park District. In case of inclement weather, the storytime will move to the Glen Ellyn Public Library.


June 19 • 7pm-9pm
Jazz in the Park

Listen to your favorite Big Band tunes during a free live concert by the Glen Ellyn Jazz Ensemble. Be sure to pack a blanket, lawn chairs and picnic dinner. The concert will be held at Maryknoll Park (845 Pershing Avenue, Glen Ellyn).


June 20 • 5:30pm-7pm
Commissioner Meet & Greet

Come explore the new playground at Main Street Recreation Center during our Commissioner Meet & Greet on Thursday, June 20th. While you’re there, chat with neighbors, enjoy free food (while supplies last), and meet current and past Glen Ellyn Park District Commissioners. We’ll also have a raffle for gift bags filled coupons for mini golf, the splash park, and more, and the first 100 attendees will receive a special giveaway to celebrate our 100 Year Anniversary.


June 25 • 7pm
Storytime in the Park

Head to Stacy Park for dragon-themed stories from amazing authors, music, and movement. In case of inclement weather, the storytime will move to the Glen Ellyn Public Library.


June 26
Movie in the Park – Snow White

Enjoy a free showing of Disney’s animated classic, “Snow White,” on Wednesday, June 26th at Lake Foxcroft Park. Take part in a special pre-movie activity beginning at 8:15pm and dress up like your favorite character from the film for a costume contest. Get there early – the first 100 attendees will receive a free serving of frozen custard, courtesy of Andy’s Frozen Custard! The movie will begin between 8:30pm-9pm.


June 29
Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta

Come find out which cardboard boats sink and which cruise to the finish line at the Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta on June 29th! Arrive hungry, the Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Committee will once again offer their “Food Truck Picnic in the Park” beginning at 11am. Whether you are building a boat or just out to watch the fun (there is no cost to spectate), this is one event you won’t want to miss this summer. The event opens at 10am with races beginning at noon. Held at Lake Ellyn Park (645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn).
