October 27, 2016 Notice is hereby given that the time for the public meeting on the proposed Athletic Lights at Upper Newton Field at Newton Park for the Glen Ellyn Park District has been changed due to the possibility of a game 7 for the Chicago Cubs – Cleveland Indians World Series and will now be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, located at 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. The start time will remain at 6:00 p.m. even if the there is no Game 7.

This past year has been a productive period for our Park District. Many large projects have been completed in 2016, including the historic restoration of the Lake Ellyn Boathouse, modernization and installation of new athletic lights at Ackerman Park, installation of shade/safety structures at Village Green (thanks to Glenbard West for contributing partial funding), construction of a new picnic shelter at Maryknoll Park and sediment removal from Lake Ellyn. July 22, 2016 July 22, 2016 — On Tuesday, July 19th, the Glen Ellyn Park District Board voted to allow the referendum debt that funded the majority of the expenses to construct the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center to retire. As a result of the unanimous vote, residents of the Park District will realize, on average, an estimated 7.5% reduction on their 2016 tax bill (payable in 2017) and an approximate savings of 27.5% on their 2017 tax bills (payable in 2018). A popular summertime event, the race attracts more than 800 runners, walkers, and strollers each year, helping raise money for the Glen Ellyn Park District Scholarship Fund. April 6, 2016 April 6, 2016 — The Glen Ellyn Park District has entered into an agreement with Hard Gainers Athletics (HGA) to license space, currently occupied by the Chicago Bulls/Sox Academy, at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center. The new license agreement allows the Park District to retain both organizations as the space will serve as an area for HGA to provide expanded and enhanced sports performance training while still enabling the Bulls/Sox to train the Park District’s baseball and softball participants during the off-season.
