Glen Ellyn Park District is a separate municipal governing agency established for the purpose of providing parks, facilities, and recreational programs for the community. Our mission is to foster diverse, community-based leisure opportunities through a harmonious blend of quality recreation programs, facilities, and open space that will enhance the quality of life into the future.

Social Media Posting Guidelines

Glen Ellyn Park District welcomes you to our official social media pages. These sites are intended to provide information for those interested in Glen Ellyn Park District and its related services. While comments and interaction with the page are encouraged, these are moderated online discussion sites and not a public forum. Visitors shall comply with the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Social Media Posting Guidelines, as set forth below. Comments left on these pages will be monitored and removed if not in compliance with the Guidelines.

The following are prohibited:

  • Obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit postings
  • Profane, violent, hateful, or racist language, including masked words (***), acronyms, and abbreviations
  • Personal attacks of any kind, insults, threats, or defamatory statements
  • Spam, advertising, solicitations, and fraudulent messages
  • Copyright and trademark infringement
  • Posts that advocate illegal activity
  • Links to outside websites/external URLs
  • Posts that otherwise violate any Glen Ellyn Park District policies or any local, state, or federal law
  • Posts that otherwise violate the social media platform’s terms of use

Glen Ellyn Park District reserves the right to remove any post at any time for any reason. If a portion of a post is inappropriate, the entire post will be deleted.

Requests from 3rd Parties

Due to the volume of requests received from third-party entities, we have developed the following social media guidelines to preserve the focus and integrity of the content on our social media platforms. We will post or share only the following content:

  • District Programming, Operations & News: Information regarding District-led or hosted activities, events, services, news, and institutional milestones.
  • District Foundation: Content and initiatives from the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation.
  • Intergovernmental and Public Agencies: Applicable content from local, state, and public agencies.
  • Sanctioned Civic Ceremonies (Non-District Run): Information regarding long-standing, non-commercial civic ceremonies that occur at District facilities but are organized by third-party volunteer or civic groups (e.g., Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July Fireworks).
  • Public Safety: Critical community information and public health updates.

Note on Private and Commercial Entities: The District does not post or share content for private businesses. Any in-kind support or donations provided are intended as a gesture of community goodwill and do not establish a marketing partnership or affiliation.
