About the Program

Glen Ellyn Theatre Company is a recreational theatre program that creates quality theatre programs with young actors. Cast members are children ranging in age from 7 to 18. Age-appropriate musicals, suitable for family viewing, are performed. Participants observe the process of producing a show from start to finish, learn songs and dance routines, create props, and more.


The SpongeBob Musical – Youth Edition | Spring Production

About the Show

This season’s production, The SpongeBob Musical – Youth Edition, is a shortened edition of the hit musical, specially tailored for young actors. Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show. When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world! (Concord Theatricals).

Auditions:

Offered on January 10 and January 11 at Main Street Recreation Center. Registration is required and can be completed online at gepark.org/register. There is no fee to audition.

Casting & Participation Fee:

All who are cast after auditions must pay a participation fee ($300 for residents, $325 for nonresidents) prior to the first rehearsal. Fee includes a t-shirt and cast party. Costumes will need to be provided by participants closer to the performance.

Rehearsals:

January 17 to April 18 at Main Street Recreation Center from 5:30-8 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. A call sheet will be sent out weekly. Tech week will take place April 22 to April 24 from 5-8 pm at the theatre and will require all actors. A meeting for adults/caregivers and the cast will be scheduled after rehearsals begin.

Performances:

Thursday, April 25 through Sunday, April 28. Tickets will be sold at an additional cost.
