Athletics

Name Your Game!

We proudly offer a diverse range of sports classes and league opportunities for every age! Our goal is to foster an atmosphere of fun, camaraderie, and good sportsmanship. Sports offered vary throughout the year. For more information, please contact the Athletics Department at (630) 858-2462.


Early Childhood/Tot Sports Classes

The Glen Ellyn Park District offers a variety of athletics and parent/child classes for early childhood ages 2 to preschool.

All Star Sports Tot Classes »

All Star Sports classes introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of a variety of sports. Programs include t-ball, basketball, floor hockey, multi-sports, soccer, and more. Classes take place at Main Street Recreation Center.

Ackerman SFC Tot Classes »

Tiny sportsters can take part in a variety of sports with convenient and affordable classes at Ackerman SFC. Through playing games and having fun, children will develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and more.

Lakers Tot Classes »

Introduce your little one to the world’s most popular sport! Adult/Tot, Little, and Junior Lakers soccer classes are taught by Future Pros trainers, the same trainers that coach the Lakers Travel teams! Classes take place at Ackerman.


Youth Sports Leagues and Classes

Baseball »

Take part in America’s favorite pastime! The spring recreational program is open to youth in grades Pre-K to 8. Rebels Travel Baseball is also available for levels 10U to 14U. 

Basketball »

Let the kids hit the court! We offer fall (1st-8th) and winter (K-8th) recreational youth basketball leagues for kids. The leagues provide equal playing time for all participants.

Cheerleading »

Introduce your child to the fundamentals of sideline cheering! Non-competitive is open to youth in kindergarten to 8th grade. Competitive cheer is available for grades 3-8.


Field Hockey »

Field hockey helps improve balance and coordination and teaches teamwork. We offer year-round developmental classes as well as recreational leagues in partnership with RISE.

Football »

Are you ready for some football? Golden Eagles Football offers both flag and tackle programs for youth athletes. Flag is open to grades 1 to 6. Tackle to ages 7 to 14.

Gymnastics »

Anything but routine! Gymnastics builds strength, balance, and flexibility. We offer classes year-round for ages 18 months-14 years and the Grasshoppers Tumbling Team.


Lacrosse (Boys) »

The Bulldogs Lacrosse program is open to boys in grades 1 to 8. Athletes will learn the sport in a fun and challenging atmosphere.

Lacrosse (Girls) »

Glen Ellyn Park District offers girls lacrosse for grades Pre-K to 8. Beginners and experienced players welcome!

Martial Arts »

Develop strength, flexibility, self-defense skills, and more in a Taekwondo or Karate class. Classes are available for all ages and skills levels. 


Rugby (Boys) »

Rugby is a legendary game that mixes strength, speed, and agility. The Glen Ellyn Youth Rugby program is open to children from 5th grade through senior year of high school. Teams practice 3 days per week with games on weekends.

Running Club »

Kids ages 6-14 will build endurance and learn proper running form while training to run between a 2K and 3K in this informal, co-ed running club. Runners are grouped by age and/or ability level. Interested qualifiers may choose to go to the national meet in November.

Soccer: House »

Everyone gets a kick out of soccer! Our soccer league, held in the spring and fall, is a terrific way for children in grades Pre-K to 10 to learn skills and be a part of a team in a safe, high energy, and friendly environment. Registration closes in February for spring and July for fall.


Soccer: Lakers »

Lakers Travel Soccer is open to birth year 2009 to 2015. Teams are coached by professional trainers from Future Pros and compete in leagues across the Chicagoland area. The Lakers hold tryouts in April/May.

Soccer: Midwest »

Midwest FC offers competitive travel soccer for birth year 2004 through high school players. All teams are coached by experienced Future Pros trainers. Tryouts take place in April/May.

Softball »

Take a swing at softball! Our recreational house league is open to girls in grades Pre-K to 8. Part- and full-time travel is also available through the Phillies program. 


Swim Team »

The Gators Swim Team offers an opportunity for your swimmer to take part in fun and friendly competition. The team is open to ages 7 to 18. A pre-team is also available.

Tennis »

We offer outdoor group instruction for ages 4 to adult in the spring, summer, and fall. Private lessons are also available for players seeking personalized instruction.

Volleyball »

The District partners with Cyclones Volleyball, coaches from Glenbard West High School, and other groups to provide camps, clinics, and leagues throughout the year.


Adult Athletics

Our leagues and tournaments offer opportunities for adults to compete against others in a safe, fun environment. We offer recreational and competitive levels of play, so that everyone from a multi-year vet to a rookie can play.
