NATURAL RINKS: Updates on ice safety conditions at Lake Ellyn, Lake Foxcroft, and Newton Park are communicated with the public through the District’s hotline at gepark.org/hotline as they become available. The hotline is updated only when ice conditions change.
POLAR PLAZA SYNTHETIC ICE RINK: The Polar Plaza occupies a portion of the Village’s Crescent parking lot, just west of Main Street, and is free to residents and visitors to the area. The Polar Plaza has a synthetic (plastic) surface which replicates a regular ice surface. The rink is open daily from noon to 9 p.m. through February 14. You must have your own skates. For more information, visit: gepark.org/polarplaza
OTHER SKATING OPTIONS: Wheaton Park District has two refrigerated outdoor ice rinks located at their Central Athletic Complex. Both reserve-skate and non-reservation hours are available. For more information, please visit: wheatonparkdistrict.com
If you need skates, check with Paul’s Shoe Service, 486 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, (630) 790-1030, as they have used skates for sale and exchange.
