    Athletics Update: New Sports Guidelines Released by Governor Pritzker

    July 29, 2020: Governor Pritzker just announced new restrictions for youth and adult recreational athletics. This includes, but is not limited to, park district sports programs, school-based sports (IHSA and IESA), travel clubs, and recreational leagues. In addition, IHSA has also presented their plans regarding Illinois high school sports for the 2020-2021 school year.

    The new DCEO all-sports guidance categorizes sports into three risk levels: low, medium, or high. The categories are based on the amount of contact between athletes and their proximity during play. The guidance sets four levels of play allowed based on current public health conditions within each category.

    While the Park District will have to further review the new guidelines and develop in-depth plans, we remain confident the Park District can still provide safe opportunities for fall sports with modifications and specific protocols. Your continued patience and support is appreciated. More information will be forthcoming on fall athletics.

    Park District Awarded $4,165 Grant

    ComEd and Openlands announced that the Glen Ellyn Park District is one of only three agencies in DuPage County to receive an environmental grant from the organizations through the annual ComEd Green Region Program. The Glen Ellyn Park District has received over $4,000 for a project to assist with natural area improvements at Maryknoll Park. A garden at the entry will be enhanced and expanded with pollinator container plants, and select areas of turf in the park will be converted to a pollinator prairie. Read More »

As a reminder, brochures will be available online only and will not be delivered to homes until further notice. Resident registration for programs within the Playbook begins at 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 2. Nonresident registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17. Read More »

    Glenbard West and South Camps

    Registration is open for Glenbard West and South athletic summer camps! Athletic summer camps are for current Glenbard students only, including incoming freshmen. Registration numbers are limited for some sports due to the current pandemic. Camps will begin Monday, July 13, at various times and locations. Please note that masks must be worn entering and exiting all outdoor facilities and must be worn at all times for indoor locations, including for workouts. Register for camps >

    New public gardens to inspire and inform

    DuPage Foundation’s Glen Ellyn Fund awarded its first round of funding to a new “Sustainable Garden Initiative.” The project, proposed by the Environmental Commission, created two permanent demonstration gardens to inspire and inform visitors to Lake Ellyn and Village Green Parks, and builds upon Glen Ellyn’s annual “Sustainable Yard Tour.” Read More »
