October 14, 2024 Construction on the perimeter ‘ring road’ parking lot at Ackerman Park is underway. This project aims to enhance the lot by improving surfacing, widening aisles and stalls, and increasing accessibility for all visitors. Construction is expected to continue until Thanksgiving, with portions of the lot closed during this time. September 12, 2024 Join us at the Dr. Frank Johnson Center, 490 Kenilworth Avenue, for an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event on Tuesday, September 17. The event will start at 5:30 pm, with the ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at 6:30 pm. Originally built in the 1920s as an ice storage unit, the old facility had outlived its usefulness. The new, state-of-the-art building supports the Parks Department’s work across 300 acres of parkland. Come explore the upgraded amenities and enjoy light refreshments!

September 3, 2024 Notice is hereby given that the Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners has changed the venue for its Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, will begin at 7 pm and will be held at the Frank Johnson Center, Maintenance Center facility, located at 490 Kenilworth Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
An Open House will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 6:30 pm. Staff will be on hand to lead tours of the facility, and light refreshments will be served, followed by our Regular Meeting.

August 30, 2024 The Frank Johnson Center Playground is open. Remediation work has been completed, and the playground has been reinstalled with a new wood chip surface and inspected for safety.

August 27, 2024 An excessive heat warning from the National Weather Service is in effect for Tuesday, August 27, 2024. To ensure the safety of our participants and staff, all outdoor programs scheduled for 2 pm or later today are canceled. Indoor programs will continue as scheduled. Unless otherwise notified via email by the program supervisor, outdoor activities are set to resume on Wednesday, August 28.
