Swim Lessons & Programs

Group Outdoor Swim Lessons

Swimming is one of those life skills everyone should have. Sunset Pool Swim Academy provides a positive, fun-filled opportunity to prepare kids for a lifetime of safe water fun. Classes take place outdoors at Sunset Pool in June and July.

Adult/Tot Water Exploration | Ages 9 months-3 years

Designed to make an infant’s first experience in the water positive and fun. The instructor will facilitate the lesson while caregivers are the main instructor for the class. The class will help develop comfort in the water, swimming readiness, floating with assistance, and blowing bubbles. Adults will be taught how to prevent and manage an aquatic emergency and basic CPR instruction.

Preschool Learn to Swim | Ages 3-5

This swim lesson program covers swimming skills and water safety knowledge in a logical progression. Participants will learn and work on skills such as getting face/head wet, floating, gliding, and combined arm and leg action on front and back. All participants will be tested on the first day of class and placed into the correct level.

Youth Learn to Swim | Ages 6-15

This swim lesson program covers swimming skills and water safety knowledge in a logical progression. Participants will learn and work on skills such as getting face/head wet, floating, gliding, front crawl with rotary breathing, backstroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. These classes will help prepare your child to transition to the Gators Swim Team program, if desired, and help them be confident and safe in the water.

Private Swim Lessons

We offer private, 30-minute, 1:1 swim lessons for ages 4 and up. To setup your lessons, first pay for the number of lessons you would like online or at any registration office. Gators Swim Team

Swim Team is not a lesson program.

Gators is a competitive recreational swim team is made up of youth ages 7-18 years. Participants are expected to attend practice Monday-Friday where they will learn the techniques and discipline of competitive swimming, and the value of sportsmanship and team spirit. The swim team will be divided into two teams, “A” which is more competitive and “B” which is for less experienced swimmers. 

Swim Team is not a lesson program. To have an enjoyable experience and safely take part, 7 and 8 years old must be able to comfortably swim 25-yards of freestyle and 25-yards of backstroke without stopping. Participants over 9 years old must be able to swim 50-yards freestyle and backstroke without stopping. For questions on the program, please contact Lisa Semetko at lsemetko@gepark.org.
