Annual “Gone Fishin’ Derby” Takes Place June 18 at New Location

Posted on: May 26, 2016

Whether you are an expert angler or you just love to fish, join the Glen Ellyn Park District for it’s annual Gone Fishin’ Derby on Saturday, June 18th! New this year, the event will take place at Lake Foxcroft Park from 8-10am. With lots of great trophies to win, and a $10 registration fee per child ($15 for non-residents) that includes bait, activities, and snacks, you can’t go wrong!

The goal is to catch as many fish as you possibly can, but keep an eye out for that one big fish. You only have an hour, so stay focused! There will be trophies awarded for the biggest catch of the derby, the smallest catch of the derby, the most fish caught by one person, and the fisherman with the best outfit. All you have to do is bring your pole and get ready for a fun morning of catching and releasing. All children must have an adult with them in order to participate.

Pre-registration is required by June 10 to ensure that there will be a spot for your child on the bank. You do not have to be the best fisherman to participate in this derby! This is a great family activity for a Saturday morning. Grab your pole, suit up, and come on down!
