Ackerman SFC Cable & Internet Update

Due to Comcast misrepresenting their capabilities, the facility is now quickly researching potential solutions to allow the television channels to be changed independently. We apologize for the inconvenience that Comcast has put on our ability to move freely between channels and, most concerning, affecting our patrons experience at the facility during the past few weeks. It is our intention to have plan in place in the next 48 hours.


Ackerman SFC recently transitioned to Comcast cable and internet services to enhance Wi-Fi and cable service to our fitness members and guests. Recognizing that the present Wi-Fi services were not adequate, the Park District researched potential upgrades and met with Comcast along with other potential vendors to achieve the goal of improved technology at a reasonable expense.

Throughout the process, Comcast representatives assured the District that they were fully aware of the facility television setup and understood the related needs and demands. As a result, Comcast was selected as the provider and arrangements to transition to Comcast were scheduled in order to minimize any disruption of services. On the day of the installation, it became apparent that Comcast had over promised and their system would not be able to provide the service they confidently assured would work. In fact their response since has been not to provide any further assistance saying this is beyond their abilities!
