Mom & Son Jammin’ Fun Offers Dancing, Games

Posted on: October 3, 2018

The Glen Ellyn Park District is proud to once again host its annual Mom & Son Jammin’ Fun event, formerly known as Mom Prom, for boys ages 3-10 and their moms. Attendees will have a chance to dance, play games, and enjoy fun activities in the gym at the Main Street Recreation Center in Glen Ellyn.

“We’re offering two separate Mom & Son Jammin’ Fun events based on the boys’ ages,” said Jessica Marquez, Recreation Supervisor for the Glen Ellyn Park District. “On Friday, November 9th, ages 5-10 will enjoy the fun from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The event for ages 3-6 will be on Saturday, November 10th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Currently, all spots for Friday’s dance are spoken for, but we have about thirty spots open for Saturday’s event. The registration deadline is November 2nd.”

As in previous years, moms and their sons will dance to the tunes of a popular DJ. “If some attendees prefer not to dance, we offer fun games like the limbo, hula hoop contests, bucket stacking, and more,” added Marquez. “We’ll also have a photo booth on site for complimentary photos, as well as an Ice Cream Sundae Bar courtesy of Cold Stone Creamery.”

This special evening for moms and their sons has been a very popular event over the years. “Both the moms and their boys love it,” said Marquez. “The moms enjoy getting dressed up and going out with their little guy. The boys love dancing and playing with their friends, as well. Overall, it’s a really fun and special night that provides a great opportunity for mother-son bonding time.” This year’s events are sponsored by Saylor & Murphy Orthodontics.

The cost per couple is $33 for residents and $50 for non-residents. If moms want to bring more than one son, the additional fee per boy is $16 for residents and $33 for non-residents. Be sure to register for Saturday’s dance (Friday’s is full) by the November 2nd deadline.
