Chocolate, Cheese, and Wine Event Raises $4,000 for Park District Scholarship Fund

Posted on: February 20, 2019

This year’s Chocolate, Cheese, and Wine event raised $4,000 for the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Scholarship Fund, which enables residents in need to receive financial assistance for Park District programs and activities. Chocolate, Cheese, and Wine is offered in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce, who presented the check at the Park Board meeting on Tuesday, February 19.

In 2018, the Glen Ellyn Park District assisted more than 170 families in the community with nearly $32,000 in scholarship funds. These funds allow children and adults to participant in recreational activities ranging from martial arts to preschool. In recent years, the District has seen a surge of participation in its scholarship program. The Park District expects the program to grow again in 2019, thereby demonstrating an even greater need.

The District continues to fund the Scholarship Program through its budget and events such as the Freedom Four™ 4-Mile Run, Afternoon Festivities, and Chocolate, Cheese and Wine. Donations to the scholarship fund can also be made online at www.gepark.org/register when registering for your program or event, or via the “Make a Donation” link.
