Thanksgiving hours 2022

District facilities are closed or have special hours on Thursday, November 24, 2022, in observance of Thanksgiving, but we have a few ways to start your holiday off on the right foot. Spring Avenue and Main Street Recreation Centers will also be closed on Friday, November 25.

Turkey Burn & Food Drive

Earn that extra helping of mashed potatoes and help feed the less fortunate from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, November 24. Join us for a morning of calorie-burning fun at Ackerman SFC featuring a selection of some of your favorite group fitness classes.

The “fee” to participate is a non-perishable food item (or toiletry) donation. Donations will benefit the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Open to members and non-members; no registration required. For ages 14 and up.


Turkey Trot 5-Mile Predicto Race

Get active for a good cause by starting your Thanksgiving at the Turkey Trot 5-Mile Predicto Race! The race will kickoff at 8 a.m. from Lake Ellyn Park on Thursday, November 24. The Turkey Trot is free and open to the public; registration is not required but a waiver must be signed on-site prior to the event start time to qualify.

Support Glen Ellyn Food Pantry
Non-perishable food items and toiletries will be collected at the Turkey Trot for donation to Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. 

Weather Permitting:
Outdoor events may be canceled in case of rain or other unfavorable conditions. Check www.gepark.org/hotline on the day of the event for updates.


Polar Market

Get in the holiday spirit at our inaugural Polar Market on Friday, November 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. Enjoy holiday shopping, carolers performing winter classics, ice skating (bring your own skates from home), and even a visit with St. Nick himself. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be available for purchase. The event, which takes place at the Polar Plaza in downtown Glen Ellyn (Crescent parking lot, west of Main St.), is free and open to the public.
