Jacquelyn Casazza and Karin Daly Named Glen Ellyn Park District Volunteer of the Year

Posted on: February 20, 2023

Go Green Glen Ellyn co-founders, Jacquelyn Casazza and Karin Daly, have been named the Glen Ellyn Park District Volunteer of the Year. They will be recognized at the annual Glen Ellyn Community Awards on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. The recognition event, hosted by the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce, honors individuals and organizations that have been active within the community while contributing towards the betterment of Glen Ellyn.

In an impactful inaugural year, Go Green Glen Ellyn has been an excellent partner for the Park District. At Jacquelyn and Karin’s initiative, two sports equipment swaps took place in 2022, allowing community members access to a wide variety of new and gently used sports equipment at little or no cost.

In keeping with the “green” in their name, Jacquelyn and Karin arranged for Flat Can and Dart Recycling to offer specialty recycling at the District’s annual Pumpkin Smash, keeping hundreds of pounds of Styrofoam, textiles, paint, and more out of landfills. Go Green Glen Ellyn volunteered at the District’s eco-lecture series, Earth Day Celebration, and the Native Tree and Plant Sale, and donated $1,700 to the District’s scholarship fund.

Go Green Glen Ellyn also planned and promoted a community-wide Oaktober week, culminating in OAKtoberfest, a free event co-hosted by the Park District, featuring nature-themed activities, live music, and 12 community organizations.

The Glen Ellyn Park District is truly fortunate to have community members such as Jacquelyn and Karin who freely give their time, efforts, energy and dedication to the Glen Ellyn community and Park District.
