The Glen Ellyn Park District is excited to celebrate Earth Week with a variety of fun and educational activities for all ages! From April 20th to 26th, there’s something for everyone to connect with the natural world and make a positive impact on our environment. Registration is required for all Earth Week activities.
Volunteer and Give Back:
- Volunteer Day (Free): Lend a hand and remove invasive brush at Ackerman Woods on Saturday, April 20th from 9-11 am. This is a great opportunity for families with children ages 8 and up to make a difference together. Register »
- Trees for Glen Ellyn (Free): Join the Park District forestry team on Wednesday, April 24th from 9 am to 12 pm and learn about a new volunteer opportunity: planting and caring for trees in our parks. For ages 8 and up. Register »
Explore and Learn:
- Forest Bathing Wellness Walk ($15 Residents/$18 Nonresidents): Reconnect with nature on Sunday, April 21st with a guided forest bathing walk led by a certified nature and forest therapy guide. This calming experience is for adults 18 and up. Register »
- Wildflower Walk (Free): Discover the beauty of spring wildflowers on Tuesday, April 23rd from 9-10:30 am. This guided walk at Lake Ellyn Park and Benjamin Gault Bird Sanctuary is a great opportunity to learn about these ephemeral wonders. For ages 18 and up. Register »
- Migration Morning (Free): Join a guided bird walk on Thursday, April 25th from 8:30-10 am and experience the excitement of spotting spring warblers in Manor Park. For ages 18 and up. Register »
Family Fun:
- Library Storytime (Free): Bring your little ones (ages 5 and under) to Maryknoll Park on Monday, April 22nd at 10:30 am for a storytime celebrating Earth Day. Register »
- Breakfast with the Birds ($5 Residents/$7 Nonresidents): Celebrate our feathered friends with donuts, hot chocolate, or coffee and a birdwatching walk on Friday, April 26th at 9-10:30 am. This fun program is perfect for all ages. Register »
- Arbor Day Experience ($10 Residents/$12 Nonresidents): Kids ages 5-12 can learn all about Arbor Day and participate in a tree planting activity at Lake Ellyn Park on Friday, April 26th from 1:30-3 pm. Register »
