The Glen Ellyn Park District, in partnership with Go Green Glen Ellyn, invites the community to celebrate the majestic oak tree at OAKtoberfest on Saturday, October 5, from 1-4 pm at Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Avenue. This free event offers a variety of family-friendly activities designed to educate and entertain all ages.

This year’s OAKtoberfest features a range of engaging new activities:

  • Oak Tree Planting Demonstration
  • Yoga with Kristin Malone
  • Recycled Paper Making with SCARCE
  • Wooden Bookmark Decorating courtesy of Glen Ellyn Public Library
  • Oaks-are-a-Treasure Hunt
  • Acorn Obstacle Course

Attendees can also enjoy a guided nature walk to learn about the importance of oak trees, participate in an acorn toss, and get creative with a tree art project. For those looking to try something new, platform tennis will be available with equipment and brief instruction provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition, OAKtoberfest features an opportunity to meet and support local environmentally conscious organizations and small businesses, including Two Hound Red, School of Rock, Glen Ellyn Public Library, The Conservation Foundation, Glen House Food Pantry, Eastern Branch DuPage River Trail, League of Women Voters, and Branch Gardens. Adults 21 and over can purchase a special OAKtoberfest beer from Two Hound Red.

Admission is free, and all ages are welcome, though children must be accompanied by an adult.
