Posted on: September 6, 2024

Join the Glen Ellyn Park District and Charlie’s Corner Foundation for a magical evening at the Glow in the Park Lantern Walk on Sunday, September 15, from 5-8 pm at Lake Ellyn Park. This community event promises a night filled with fun, entertainment, and a beautiful illuminated walk around the lake, all in support of the NICU at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Event Highlights:

  • Live Music & Entertainment: Kick off the evening with live music by Tres Moustache, and enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, a bubble show, lawn games, and an inflatable obstacle course and slide.
  • Meet Your Heroes: Kids and families can meet their favorite superheroes and princesses, thanks to the League of Enchantment.
  • Lantern Walk: At 7:15 pm, witness or participate in the glowing paper lantern walk around the lake, kicked off by the Glenbard West marching band. You can decorate a lantern on-site for $10 (while supplies last) or bring your own pre-decorated lantern to join the walk.
  • Grab a Bite: Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening from Heavenly Hot Dogs and Kona Ice.

Admission & Donations:

  • This event is free and open to the public. While admission is free, cash donations to Lurie Children’s Hospital are encouraged to support their ongoing efforts.

Pre-Purchase Lantern Kits:

  • For those who want to get a head start on the fun, lantern kits (including a paper lantern shade, LED light, and carrying stick) are available for pre-purchase online at gepark.org/register for $10 each. Kits can be picked up at the Main Street Recreation Center until 5 pm on September 13. Proceeds from kit sales benefit Lurie Children’s.
