Registration Information

Our popular classes reach full capacity quickly, so we strongly advise registering early. Waiting too long might lead to your preferred class being fully booked or, in some cases, canceled due to low enrollment. Our registration process is based on a first-come, first-served system, but should a class be full, you have the opportunity to join the waiting list. We will notify you if spots open up.

If you require registration assistance, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected].

Residency Requirements

Anyone living within the geographic boundaries of the Glen Ellyn Park District is considered a resident. Residents contribute financially to the operation of the park system through property taxes. To compensate for the property tax disparity, the District charges nonresidents a higher fee for programs

The fastest way to determine your resident status is by checking your property tax bill, which will specify the park district you pay taxes to. If you need assistance, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected].

If you reside in Glen Ellyn but do not pay property taxes to any park district, you are eligible for the Nonresident Household Membership. For more information, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected].

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is support available if I encounter any issues with registration?

Yes, our registration staff at (630) 942-7280 or [email protected] will be available during regular office hours to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

  • R/NR and M/NM - what do these letters mean?

R stands for the fee residents of the Glen Ellyn Park District pay for a program, while NR stands for the fee nonresidents pay. In some cases, you may also come across M or NM, which refers to the fee members (of a specific facility) or non-members pay.

  • Why am I being charged the nonresident fee?

Anyone living within the geographic boundaries of the Glen Ellyn Park District is a resident. It’s important to note that our boundaries may not align with the Village of Glen Ellyn. Residents contribute financially to the operation of the park system through property taxes. To address the property tax difference, the District charges nonresidents a higher fee for programs. Homes in Glen Ellyn may fall within the geographic boundaries of multiple park districts, including:

    • Glen Ellyn Park District
    • GE Countryside Park District
    • Butterfield Park District
    • Wheaton Park District
    • Lombard Park District

If you believe you are being incorrectly charged the nonresident fee, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours. Our team will assist you in correcting your account.

  • How do I register for classes online?

To register online, you need to create an account with a login name and password. Online registration accounts are available for both residents and nonresidents. Each family should establish one primary account under the head of the household’s name and then add all family members to the account. Here’s how to register online:

    1. Visit www.gepark.org/register and click on ‘Create an Account‘.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete all required fields.
    3. After submitting your account request, you will receive an email (please check your spam or junk folder).
    4. Click the link in the email to activate your account.
    5. You can now start registering for programs online.

If you are having trouble or don’t receive the activation email, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours. Our staff will be happy to assist you.

  • Which browsers are supported for online registration?

Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are the supported browsers. If you are using Safari, Internet Explorer, or another web browser, you may encounter issues.

  • What does it mean to be "in line"?

During peak registration periods, customers may be placed in a queue to manage heavy traffic and prevent site crashes. While in the queue, there might be a brief wait for transactions to be processed. Rest assured that the order of transactions remains unchanged, ensuring customers are enrolled in their activities in the correct sequence. If you encounter the queue screen, please wait patiently for the system to guide you to the next stage of the registration process. Remember, leaving this screen will result in losing your place in line.

  • What should I do if I forgot my password?

Follow the steps below to reset your password. If you continue to experience difficulties, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours. Our staff will be happy to assist you. Please refrain from creating a new account. Here’s how to reset your password:

    1. When prompted to sign in, click on ‘Forgot your password’.
    2. Enter the email address associated with your account and click ‘Submit.’
    3. An email will be sent to you, containing a temporary password (please check your junk or spam folder).
    4. Use the temporary password to sign into your account and change your password.

  • Help, I am locked out of my account!

Account lockouts happen when you incorrectly enter your password five or more times or if you have past due fees. To unlock your account, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours.

  • How do I cancel or withdraw from a class?

To cancel or withdraw from an activity, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours or complete our Refund Request Form. Cancellations and withdrawals cannot be processed through the online registration system. Please note that a service charge of $5 or more will apply to all cancellations, withdrawals, or refunds, and that some programs, events, and services are non-refundable.

  • How do I update my home address?

To update your home address, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours. We may request proof of residency. Address changes cannot be made through the online registration system.

  • How do I update a family member's birthday or birth date?

To correct a birth date, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours. This change cannot be made through the online registration system.

  • The class I want is full. Will you be adding more spots or classes?

Each program has a predetermined minimum and maximum number of participants, which ensures quality instruction, availability of space, sufficient instructors, and adequate supplies. While we may be able to accommodate waitlists or add extra sessions for certain programs, it may not be feasible for others. We recommend registering for classes as soon as possible after the registration opens for the season.

  • How do I get on the waitlist for a class?

On the activities online registration page, click on ‘+ Add to Waitlist’ and follow the on-screen instructions. There is no fee to join the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, we will contact you for payment. If we are unable to reach you within 24 hours, we will move on to the next person on the list. Placing your name on the waiting list is recommended, but it does not guarantee admission into the class.

  • The person I am trying to register is either too old or too young for the class. Can I still register?

Each class or program has an age and/or grade designation to indicate the targeted age group. This designation serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it ensures that the class or program is tailored for a specific age range. Secondly, participants tend to have a more enjoyable and rewarding experience when engaging with peers of similar ages. Thirdly, individuals generally feel more comfortable around others in their own age group. Lastly, safety and fair play considerations arise when mixing different age groups, especially for youth programs.

If you would like to request an age exception for your child, please call (630) 942-7280 or email [email protected] during regular registration office hours or complete the Contact Us form. If approved by the supervisor, you must register for the class in person at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Online registration with an age exception is not available. Age exceptions are evaluated on a case-by-case and program-by-program basis and may not always be granted. We strongly encourage you to register for programs specifically designed for your child’s age group.
