Clay Tennis Courts

Play on Clay!

Clay courts offer a unique playing experience that every tennis enthusiast should try at least once. The slower ball bounce on clay courts, compared to other common court surfaces, grants players more time to focus on strategic planning and refine their technical skills. Additionally, the soft surface is gentler on the knees, ankles, and feet, reducing the risk of injuries.

Location & Hours

The clay tennis courts are located at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, near the intersection of Essex and Grand. They’re open from dawn to dusk, from April 1 to November 1.

Clay Tennis Court Season Pass

An annual clay tennis court season pass is required to use the courts. You can pay the fee online or at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Season pass holders must collect their key in person from the Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Residents pay $55, while nonresidents pay $80. Pass holders receive a roster of fellow players and can request assistance with minor court maintenance.

Clay Tennis Court Improvements (Coming Soon)

Please note: As of January 24, 2023, the courts are scheduled for significant improvements within the next 18 months. The project will require court closures during construction. Players will be notified with additional information and any fee adjustments once available. Thank you for your understanding.
