Glen Ellyn Park District Events Planned for Teens, Tweens This Summer

Posted on: May 27, 2016

If you’re looking for something fun for your teen or tween to do this summer, the Glen Ellyn Park District has a wide variety of events specifically for you! There’s always lots going on in the Village of Volunteers during the summer, but these events have been planned to give teens and tweens a fun, safe place to hang out.

The first is the Teen Splash Bash on Friday, June 10th from 8-10pm. This pool party for kids in grades 6-8 features games, and plenty of great music, spun by a live DJ! Hosted at Sunset Pool, this event is free for all students with school ID. The concession stand will be open so you can buy snacks!

The Park District will also offer Tween Nights at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center on June 24th, July 29th, and August 26th, from 6:30pm to 10pm. These sports nights, with plenty of courts open to play volleyball, soccer, basketball, dodgeball, and more, are just $10 for residents ($15 for non-residents). Registration is required online at www.gepark.org to participate.

The Back to School Bash is one last chance to get out and enjoy the pool before school starts again! Sunset Pool will again be hosting a pool dance party, with plenty of games and fun to go around. You will need to bring a school ID or have a parent check you in. The Back to School Bash will take place on Friday, August 19th, from 8pm to 10pm, for grades 6-8.

The Park District is also offering two fun excursions for teens ages 11-15: the IPRA Teen Kayak Trip on July 6th or Great America on August 16th. Kids will enjoy a 2-hour guided kayak tour on the Illinois River and hiking ($70 residents/$75 non-residents) on the Teen Kayak Trip or rides and attractions at Great America ($64 residents/$80 non-residents). Pre-registration is required for both trips.
