“The Sun Rises on Sunset Pool”

The original Sunset Pool was first opened on July 1st, 1941. Over 300 people showed up to the opening, according to The Glen Ellyn News. Ever since, it has been a staple in the community. In 1944, AAA sponsored its first annual swim meet at Sunset Pool. It quickly became one of residents’ favorite traditions because of its competitive nature combined with camaraderie. A wading pool was added in 1961 and a shallow pool was added in 1964. In 1985, a concession stand was built and the entryway was renovated.
