Park District to Host Free Touch-A-Truck Event on April 16

Posted on: March 24, 2016

Police cruisers, fire trucks and more will be on display at the Glen Ellyn Park District’s annual Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, April 16 from 10am-12pm. A free hands-on event for truck-loving tots, Touch-A-Truck will be held in the parking lot at Maryknoll Park (845 Pershing Avenue, Glen Ellyn).

Touch-A-Truck offers hundreds of children and their families the opportunity to sit-in, touch, discover and safely explore their favorite big trucks and things on wheels. Mini truck aficionados will love the experience of pressing buttons, honking horns, climbing into different vehicles, and meeting the men and women who drive them! Be sure to bring an empty aluminum can so you can watch it get crushed at a steamroller demonstration at 11am.

New to the event this year will be a kiddie trackless train. Families may purchase a ride for $1 per person. Touch-A-Truck will also feature prize raffles, bounce houses, and refreshments available for purchase from Toasty Cheese and Kona Ice. The 101.9 THE MIX Road Crew will be on-site to play music from the vehicle and do a spin-to-win for prizes. Participants are invited to stay after the event to enjoy the park’s amenities which include an adventure playground, youth playground, and Holes & Knolls miniature golf course.

Local participants include the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company, Glen Ellyn Police Department, and Glen Ellyn Public Works. A dump truck, steam roller, street sweeper, tractor, bucket truck, rotator tow truck, heave duty wrecker, flatbed tow truck and other vehicles will also be on display.

Touch-A-Truck is made possible, in part, with the generous support of our sponsors. Boss Plumbing Corporation provided major level sponsorship. O’Hare Towing and Baird & Warner provided associate level sponsorships. Suburban Lock, Connie’s Pizza and Awesome Amusements Party Rentals provided basic level sponsorships. McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage and Bauer & Bauer Dentistry and Orthodontics provided raffle items for the event.
