Notice of Meeting Cancellation

Notice is hereby given that the Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners has cancelled their Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The next meeting of Board Commissioners will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and via Zoom, and will begin at its normal time of 7:00 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that a Friends of Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Maryknoll Splash Park to reopen Tuesday, August 10

UPDATE (8/9/21): The mechanical issue at the Maryknoll Splash Park has been repaired. Weather permitting, the facility will reopen at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Notice of Public Meeting: Open House for Lenox Park

We want to hear from you! The Glen Ellyn Park District is leading an initiative to improve the recreation function and value at Lenox Park and add amenities. The purpose of the meeting is to inform the community about the process of developing the Park Master Plan and to seek community input on the proposed plan of future improvements. Read More »

Center for Disease Control and Illinois Department of Public Health Announce Updated Mask Recommendation

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) released new guidance recommending that fully vaccinated individuals resume wearing face coverings indoors in areas of the country where COVID-19 transmission is “high or substantial”. DuPage County has entered into the “substantial” transmission category. Given this development, Glen Ellyn Park District is strongly recommending face coverings for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, inside our facilities. Park District completes energy-saving LED conversion project

In July 2021, the Glen Ellyn Park District replaced more than 200 existing light fixtures with energy-saving LED fixtures at Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Avenue, Glen Ellyn. Read More »

Animal Awareness: Red-Winged Blackbirds

If you are visiting Lake Ellyn, Lake Foxcroft or Churchill Parks, please be aware of red-winged blackbirds. During mating and breeding seasons, which runs from late May to August, this species can be extremely territorial and may exhibit aggressive behavior in defense of their nests. If they feel threatened, or that the female and nest are in danger, males are known to swoop, peck, or grab at humans. Signs are installed to warn visitors of aggressive bird behavior. Freedom Four 4-Mile Run Day-of-Race Parking

Residents are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Freedom Four™ 4-Mile Run, as there is no parking on Lenox or the roads surrounding Lake Ellyn Park. The commuter parking lots, including the Duane and Lorraine parking lot and the Civic Center parking garage, will remain open. Please click here to view the Village of Glen Ellyn’s interactive parking map and be sure to follow all posted signage. Limited parking will be available in the Glenbard West parking lot across from Duchon Field for Freedom Four™ 4-Mile Run participants. All cars must be removed from this lot by 10:00 a.m. 

Village Green Park Pickleball Courts Closure

The pickleball courts at Village Green Park will be closed beginning Thursday, July 1 due to court renovations. The project was originally scheduled to begin Monday, June 28 but was delayed due to inclement weather. The courts will reopen Sunday, July 4.

Notice of Public Meeting

Notice is hereby given that a public meeting (open house) on the proposed Newton Park OSLAD Playground Renovation Project for the Glen Ellyn Park District will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2021, and will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Newton Park Shelter, located at 707 Fairview Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Important Update on Phase 5 of Illinois’ Reopening Plan

If Illinois meets all metrics, the State could move to Phase 5 as early as Friday, June 11. As we have done throughout the pandemic, the District will evolve and adjust operations as quickly as possible once guidance is received from the State and Illinois Department of Public Health. Anticipated changes include increased capacity limits, elimination of the reservation system for Sunset Pool and Maryknoll Splash Park, and addition of a Sunset Pool season pass option. Please look for more details mid-week. We appreciate your patience and look forward to continued progress toward normalcy.

Park District Mask Requirement Update

On Monday, May 17, Governor Pritzker issued an updated executive order to align Illinois mask guidance with the CDC, lifting the mask mandate and social distancing requirements for fully vaccinated individuals in most settings.
