Governor Pritzker announced today that all of Illinois will enter Tier 3 resurgence mitigations beginning Friday, November 20. While anticipating increased restrictions, the District is in the process of evaluating how our programs and facilities align with the new guidelines. As always, the goal is to be both resourceful and compliant while determining how the Park District can continue to safely serve our community. November 11, 2020 The Glen Ellyn Turkey Trot has gone virtual! Continue the tradition of getting active for a good cause by completing your 5-mile run on a course of your own choosing anytime between Nov. 23-26 and sending your best Thanksgiving-themed selfie or family picture to [email protected] by November 27. November 9, 2020 Region 8, which includes Glen Ellyn, will move into Tier 2 resurgence mitigation rules effective Wednesday, November 11, due to worsening COVID-19 metrics in the region. Safety has and will continue to be one of Glen Ellyn Park District’s top priorities, and the District will continue to closely follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, Illinois Department of Public Health, Restore Illinois and local health officials as it pertains to public parks and recreation activities and facilities. Help ensure a healthy blood supply in Illinois by donating at our upcoming blood drive on Tuesday, November 24th from 1 to 6pm. The SARS CoV-2 antibody test will be performed on all successful donations. Appointments are required (blue time slots are open, gray time slots are full). Don’t trash your pumpkins, smash them on Saturday, November 7, from 9 to 11am! Area residents are invited to bring their jack-o-lanterns (no painted pumpkins and please remove all decorations) to be smashed and composted into the soil of the Community Garden Plots at Village Green Park. All pumpkins will be weighed prior to smashing. The Pumpkin Smash is free to attend, no registration required. Learn more >

Due to the facility serving as a polling place and for the safety of our participants, the District will be cancelling or moving classes scheduled to take place at Spring Avenue Recreation Center on Tuesday, November 3rd (Election Day):
- Gymnastics: November 3rd classes are canceled.
- Dance: November 3rd classes will be held at Main Street Recreation Center.
- Spring Avenue Fitness Center: Reservations will not be accepted for the Spring Avenue Fitness Center. Members may use Ackerman SFC with photo ID at no charge.
- Get Fit: Class will not take place on November 3rd.
Classes held at Ackerman SFC and Main Street Recreation Center are not impacted and will be held as scheduled. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

September 10, 2020 Take part in our at-home version of the Glow in the Park Lantern Walk on September 26th and 27th and help raise funds for Lurie Children’s on behalf of our partner, Charlie’s Corner Foundation. $10 lantern kits are for sale at Spring Avenue Recreation Center and proceeds will benefit the NICU at Lurie Children’s Hospital. We want to see as many towns, states, and countries as possible! For our friends who are not nearby, paper lanterns and lights are available at most craft or party stores. The Workshop Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Tuesday, September 1, 2020 will begin at 6:00 p.m. instead of its regularly scheduled time of 7:00 p.m. via Zoom platform and will include a Site Tour of Ackerman Park that will begin shortly after the Zoom meeting concludes. Ackerman Park is located at 800 E. St. Charles Rd. in Glen Ellyn and the tour should begin at approximately 7:00 p.m.
