Volunteers Make a Difference!

From the Freedom Four to youth soccer, the Glen Ellyn Park District relies on volunteers to make many of its programs and events successful. Becoming a Glen Ellyn Park District volunteer has its benefits. You can get outdoors, make new friends, enhance work and life experiences, and most of all…have FUN doing it! If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved in the community, please consider volunteering with the Park District!

Glen Ellyn Park District volunteers are essential to the success of our programs. Any amount of time that you can give is greatly appreciated. Please be advised a completed Volunteer Application is required and a background check may be performed for volunteer positions and some positions have age requirements. Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities


  • Restoration Work Days (Year-Round)

    Help restore your neighborhood natural areas! Join us any of these mornings to help clear invasive plants, clean-up trash, plant native plants and seeds, maintain trails and more. This is a great opportunity for families and service groups to give back to their community. Geared for ages 5+. View the Restoration Work Days schedule.


  • Volunteer Photographers (Year-Round)

    Help showcase everything Glen Ellyn has to offer! Take photos of our events, parks, trails, sports fields and recreation programs. Photos are always needed for use in our program brochure, websites and in promotional materials. Must be over the age of 18. Please contact cokray@gepark.org for details.


  • Oct. 20: Pumpkin Flotilla Fest

    When: Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 3pm-7:30pm
    Where: Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn
    Who: 5-10 volunteers ages 14 to adult
    What: Volunteers will help with setup/cleanup, bounce houses, crafts, games and general event activities. Volunteers will be given t-shirts to wear and are asked to dress for the weather and wear closed toe shoes. Volunteers should be enthusiastic and willing to have fun with the event!

  • Polar Express Storytime Trains 2019

    When: Saturday, December 14, 2019 and/or Sunday, December 15, 2019 (Tentative)
    Time: 12:45pm-3:30pm and/or 4:45pm-7:30pm each day
    Where: Glen Ellyn Metra Station (South Platform), Glen Ellyn
    Who: 4-6 volunteers ages 14 to adult
    What: Volunteers are needed to dress as holiday characters, sing carols, entertain riders. Volunteers will be given t-shirts or costumes to wear and are asked to dress for the weather. Volunteers should be enthusiastic and willing to have fun with the event and participants!

  • Jan. 6-Mar. 21: Youth Basketball Coaches (2020 Season)

    Dates: January 6, 2020 – March 21, 2020
    Where: Ackerman SFC (800 St. Charles Rd, Glen Ellyn)
    Who: Volunteers age 18 and up
    What: Coaches needed to lead 1st-8th grade teams in practices and manage game play. All volunteers will be provided t-shirts to wear. Training and practice plans will be provided.
