Current Outdoor Ice Skating Conditions

Updates on ice safety conditions at Lake Ellyn, Lake Foxcroft, and Sunset Park—relocated from Newton Park for the 2025/26 season—are communicated with the public through the District’s hotline at gepark.org/hotline. While ice conditions are checked daily, the hotline is updated only when conditions change.

2025/26 Winter Break Holiday Hours

Due to the holidays, Glen Ellyn Park District facilities may have limited hours or be closed from December 21, 2025, through January 4, 2026. Normal operating hours will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026. View facility schedules »

Toys for Tots Toy Drive (with Characters!) Event Returns on December 7!

Join us in making a difference this holiday season! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to Ackerman SFC on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1-3 pm, and meet your favorite characters while supporting Toys for Tots. Team Up for the Wing It Turkey Shootout!

Join us for the Wing It Turkey Shootout Free Throw Challenge on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm. This exciting event pairs children ages 6-12 with an adult to compete for a trophy and a Thanksgiving turkey. Each team member gets 10 free throw shots, and the most accurate teams win. Pumpkin Smash Event: Give Your Jack-o’-Lantern a Green Goodbye

Don’t trash your pumpkins—smash them! Keep those old jack-o’-lanterns out of the landfill by bringing them to Village Green Park on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9 am to 11 am for composting. Drop off and go, or bring a baseball bat or shovel to smash and chop your pumpkin! Please ensure that all decorations and candles are removed, and that none of the pumpkins are painted. Learn more »

Trunk or Treat and Pumpkin Fun at Main Street – October 27!

Stop by Main Street Recreation Center for an eerie-sistible evening! Trunk or Treat is happening on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 4-6 pm. Walk the trunk trail, collect tasty treats, and show off your costumes! Don’t forget to try pumpkin carving—your creation will be added to the Pumpkins on Main display and could win a prize. Pumpkins on Main Carving Contest is Back – Drop-Off October 27 & 28

Show off your pumpkin carving skills by entering our Pumpkins on Main Carving Contest. Carve a pumpkin at home and drop it off at the Main Street Recreation Center on October 27 or 28 between 8:30 am and 8 pm. Your jack-o’-lantern will be part of a festive community display outside the Main Street Recreation Center from October 27 to October 31, 2025. All entries are eligible to win fun prizes, including a $25 Glen Ellyn Park District gift certificate, free rounds of mini golf at Holes & Knolls, a candy-filled goodie bag, and more! Haunted Trail Returns October 23-24

👻🎃 Ready for a spine-tingling adventure? The Ackerman Haunted Trail is back on October 23 and 24, 2025! Walk through our haunted path anytime from 4 pm to 9 pm; the walk will take about 10 minutes. For a milder scare, come before 6 pm. If you’re brave enough for the full scare, show up after 6 pm! Don’t miss out on tasty treats available for purchase from local vendors. Make This Winter a Slam Dunk: Winter Youth Basketball League Registration

🏀 Don’t miss the buzzer! The Winter Youth Basketball League starts in January for K-8th grade players. The in-house league offers every player the chance to participate equally in both games and practices, regardless of skill level. Each player will receive a reversible jersey.
