Field Hockey
One of the world’s oldest and most popular sports, field hockey helps improve balance and coordination, teaches teamwork, is an intensive cardio vascular workout, and is just all-around fun! The Glen Ellyn Park District’s field hockey program focuses on building individual and team field hockey skills with clinics run by coaches with international, national, and local experience. Programs are offered seasonally for both boys and girls. All levels of experience and ability are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Girls Field Hockey (Grades 1-8)Girls meet twice per week, Thursday evenings for skills and drills and Sunday afternoons for games. Optional home and away games with other programs in the Chicagoland area may be offered. |
Girls Field Hockey – High School (Grades 9-12)High school girls who have played at least one season on a high school field hockey team are encouraged to register for our post-season league, offered in the fall. Local players and non-residents are welcome. Games will be played on Wednesdays. |
Boys Field Hockey (Grades 1-6)Twice-a-week practices build individual and team field hockey skills through drills and scrimmages. Instruction focuses on stick handling, ball control, positioning, offensive and defensive skills, and rules of the game. |
