Pickleball

Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court with a medium-sized paddle and wiffle ball. You can visit http://www.usapa.org as a resource for excellent beginner videos and to learn the rules of the game.

Outdoor Pickleball Court Usage During Phase 3:

All Glen Ellyn Park District pickleball courts (listed below) are open to the public as of Saturday, June 6. Please note, courts close at dusk.

  • Village Green Park: four pickleball courts plus one tennis court (also lined for pickleball)
  • Newton Park: two tennis courts (also lined for pickleball)

By reopening these facilities, the Park District’s intention is to provide another opportunity for a healthy outdoor activity while keeping within the recommended guidelines of the State of Illinois.

The following guidelines will need to be followed for the courts to remain open:

  • SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED: Before and after play, players must maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from all others. The use of face masks is required for all doubles match play.
  • All spectators and players waiting for a court must remain outside of the fence until a court becomes available and social distancing procedures must always be practiced.
  • Private lessons of any kind are not allowed unless authorized by the Glen Ellyn Park District.
  • Courts cannot be used for alternative activities including off-leash dogs.
  • Courts close at dusk, no lights available.
  • Please be vigilant in preventing the spread of germs by practicing good hygiene. If you or any members of your family are ill or become ill, you should remain home.

If these rules are not followed, the Glen Ellyn Park District reserves the right to close the courts immediately or take other steps as needed. Additionally, if the Governor issues mandates closing outdoor racquet or comparable facilities and/or the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) adjusts their recommendations, the Glen Ellyn Park District will act accordingly.
