Sunset Pool Rules & Regulations

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Contagious diseases and infections put all pool users at risk. Individuals with these health problems are asked not to use the facility. Band-Aids of any kind are not permitted.
  • For your protection, all flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved and labeled as such. All children wearing flotation devices must remain within arm’s reach of a swimming adult.
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited within the facility.
  • The pool water is not suitable for drinking.  Patrons should avoid swallowing pool water.
  • Food and beverages are allowed in the concession area only. NO outside food or beverages may be brought into the facility.
  • Patrons should make special needs known to pool staff, and every attempt will be made to meet those needs.
  • Boisterous, or rough play is not tolerated.
  • Running is not permitted.
  • Persons less than 10 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible person 14 years of age or older.
  • Spitting, spouting of water, blowing the nose or otherwise introducing contaminants into the swimming facility is not permitted.
  • Glass, soap or other material that might create hazardous conditions or interfere with efficient operation of the swimming facility shall not be permitted in the swimming facility or on the deck.
  • Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies. Parents or guardians should supervise their children.
  • All children who are not toilet-trained shall wear tightly fitting disposable swim diapers and tightly fitting plastic pants.
  • Diving in shallow water is not permitted.
  • Caution shall be exercised in the use of diving facilities.
  • Swimming is prohibited at outdoor swimming facilities when thunder is heard or lightning is seen, including a 30-minute period after the last lightning or thunder is detected.
  • Street shoes are prohibited on the pool deck.
  • Clean, lined swimsuits are required in the pool. All apparel worn in the swimming facility must be clean.
  • Patrons must obey lifeguards at all times.
  • Portions of the facility may be closed at the discretion of management.
  • Additional rules may be added by management if necessary.
  • Refunds will not be given in the case of bad weather.
  • The Glen Ellyn Park District is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • Pool management has the authority to implement and enforce rules that are more stringent or that supplement those listed here.

DIVING POOL RULES

  • Divers must be able to proficiently swim 25 yards.
  • Head and neck injuries can result from improper diving. To avoid such injuries, use caution while diving.
  • Check the water depth and do not dive out of the deep-water area.
  • Diving is only permitted off the diving boards.
  • Only one person at a time is allowed on the diving board.
  • Be sure the area is clear before diving.
  • Wait for the previous diver to reach the pool side before diving.
  • Do not double bounce on the diving board.
  • Dive straight off the board.
  • Do not swim under the diving board.
  • No floatation devices allowed in the deep-water swimming area.
  • Jumping off the diving board into the arms of another swimmer is not permitted.
  • No back or inward dives, handstands, or cartwheels permitted.
  • At the Pool Manager’s discretion, the diving boards may be closed due to low attendance.

SLIDE RULES

The water slide is an adventure activity and may expose the rider to possible physical injury in deciding to participate. The rider assumes full responsibility for any injury sustained.

  • To ride the slide, you must be 46” tall.
  • Riders may be required to take a swim test.
  • Pool staff will direct patrons as to when they may go down the slide.
  • Swimmers wearing floatation devices (of any kind) are not permitted down the waterslide.
  • Slide feet first only.
  • Guests must lay on their back or sit facing forward while using the waterslide.
  • Standing or stopping in the slide is prohibited.
  • Keep hands inside the flume.
  • Chain riding is prohibited. Children may not ride with adults.
  • Riders must wait for the attendant’s signal before starting the ride.
  • Catching children at bottom of slide is prohibited.
  • Metal objects, eyeglasses, or jewelry are not permitted on slide. Goggles must be in the swimmer’s hand during the ride.
  • Elderly persons, those suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, or persons using prescription medication should consult their physicians before using the slide.
  • Pregnant women are not permitted on the water slide for their personal safety.
  • No diving from the end of the flume or into the pool from the deck.
  • Violation of any of these rules will result in loss of slide privileges and/or discharge from the facility.
  • Additional rules may be added by management as necessary.
