Glen Ellyn Theatre Company is a recreational theatre program that creates quality theatre programs with young actors. Cast members are children ranging in age from 7 to 18. Age-appropriate musicals, suitable for family viewing, are performed. Participants observe the process of producing a show from start to finish, learn songs and dance routines, create props, and more.
Disney’s High School Musical Jr. | Fall Production
About the Show
This season’s production, Disney’s High School Musical Jr., brings Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical to life on stage. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. The show’s infectious, danceable songs are sure to engage our Glen Ellyn Theatre Company performers and audiences alike. (Music Theatre International).
Auditions:
Offered on August 12 and August 14 at Main Street Recreation Center. Registration is required and can be completed online at gepark.org/register. There is no fee to audition. Resident registration for auditions opens at 9 am on Saturday, May 4.
All who are cast after auditions must pay a participation fee ($325 for residents, $390 for nonresidents) prior to the first rehearsal. Fee includes a t-shirt and cast party. Costumes will need to be provided by participants closer to the performance.
Rehearsals:
August 26 to November 6 at Main Street Recreation Center from 5:30-8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Additional dance calls will take place from 2-3 pm on Saturdays during the production process and will be communicated in advance. A call sheet will be sent out weekly. Tech week will take place November 10-13 from 5-8 pm at the theatre and will require all actors. A meeting for adults/caregivers and the cast will be scheduled after rehearsals begin.
Performances:
Thursday, November 13 through Sunday, November 17. Tickets will be sold at an additional cost.
