Benjamin T. Gault Bird Sanctuary

Posted on: September 20, 2018

Approved in 1931, the bird sanctuary was named in honor of Gault’s time dedicated to studying birds. He was a well-known naturalist and ornithologist. Gault championed the movement for a bird sanctuary in Glen Ellyn starting in 1930. He was lovingly referred to as “the bird man” by the other villagers. The sanctuary has been the site of several restoration acts, beginning as early as 1953, when new signs and bird feeders were put in by the Benjamin T. Gault Bird Club.
