These Four Movies Are Showing for Free in Glen Ellyn this Summer

The Glen Ellyn Park District is gearing up for it’s summer Movies in the Parks series, featuring family-friendly, outdoor movie screenings at parks across Glen Ellyn. The series kicks off Wednesday, June 6 with “Charlotte’s Web” at Spalding Park. Best of all, all movies are free!

The District has activities planned before each movie beginning at 8:15pm, so plan to arrive early. Movies will begin as soon as it’s dark (between 8:30pm-9pm).

If attending Movies in the Parks, you’ll want to pack a blanket, lawn chairs, picnic dinner, and bug spray, as well as, bring your favorite movie snacks like popcorn and Milk Duds to enjoy during the film. As a reminder, there is no alcohol or grilling allowed in the parks.

This year’s lineup includes words on webs, dreams of becoming a ballerina, and heartfelt tales of family.

  • Charlotte’s Web (Wednesday, June 6, Spalding Park)
  • Leap! (Wednesday, June 27, Lake Ellyn Park)
  • Wonder (Wednesday, July 11, Lake Foxcroft Park)
  • Coco (Wednesday, August 8, Newton Park)

In the event of inclement weather, that evenings movie will be canceled. Notices will be posted on the Park District’s Rainout Line, Facebook, and Twitter. A rain date has been set for the entire Movies in the Parks series of Friday, August 10.

In addition to the Movies in the Parks series, the Glen Ellyn Park District will also offer a Dive-in Movie at Sunset Pool on Thursday, August 9. The featured film is a classic family favorite, “The Little Mermaid,” which will begin at dusk (approximately 8pm). The Dive-in Movie is free for Sunset Pool members, non-members must pay the daily admission fee. Concessions will available for purchase from 8pm-9pm, so you can grab a slice of pizza or an ice cream sandwich to snack on during the showing. The movie will be shown on a big blow-up screen, and visitors can float in the pool and watch the movie at the same time.
