Sunset Pool April Update

Last revised: April 30, 2021
Sunset Pool is scheduled to open Saturday, May 29, 2021, and continue through Labor Day. Due to COVID-19, the pool will operate with new safety modifications in alignment with State and local health department guidelines. Please see below for key changes to Sunset Pool operations:

  • Guests will be required to register for time slots online for open and lap swim hours to ensure mandated capacity limits are met.
  • A 5-visit pass or payment of the daily admission fee will be required when registering for time slots. An Adult Lap Swim Only pass will also be available. Pool memberships will not be sold this summer. Please see below for more information on passes and daily fees.
  • Face coverings will be required when guests are not actively swimming or in the pool. This includes when visiting restrooms, on the pool deck, or when entering and exiting the facility.
  • Guests are encouraged to come dressed ready to swim as locker room and shower facilities will be limited.
  • The Park District will not be providing on-deck furniture this year. However, patrons are welcome to bring folding chairs to sit on for the duration of their visit – please no large lounging chairs, hammocks, or inflatables. The Park District reserves the right to refuse personal chairs in the event they take up too much space or prohibit guests and staff from moving around the pool deck safely. All personal chairs must be removed each time when leaving the aquatic facility. If chairs are left, they will be removed from the site and are not the responsibility of the Park District.
  • When visiting, guests will check-in at the front desk and will leave the facility using the exit gate next to the concession stand.
  • The concession stand will not be open this year. Guests may enjoy outside food and drinks within the concession stand area. No coolers, catered food or glass will be permitted, and food and drinks are not allowed on the pool deck.
  • All guests under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 years and older.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we navigate this summer season together. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, our region may move to more strict or loosened guidelines at any time during the season, and our plan may require adjustment. Please continue to refer to gepark.org for the most current information and updates.

5-Visit Pass & Daily Admission

Beginning May 1, residents and nonresidents may purchase 5-visit passes to use when registering for open or lap swim time slots. Each pass is for individual use and cannot be shared between family members. Visits will be tracked in your household account – you will not receive a physical pass.

Passes will be available for purchase online at gepark.org/membership or in-person at Spring Avenue Recreation Center, Main Street Recreation Center, or Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center. Those who prefer not to purchase a pass may pay by day when registering for time slots online.
