Dogs

Dogs must be on leash at all times. This protects your dog, fellow park-goers, and the plants and wildlife that call our parks home! Please remember to clean up after your dog. The Park District does have an off-leash dog park at Spring Avenue Recreation Center.

Please place garbage in cans provided. Recycling is encouraged. Try to pack out what you pack in.

Smoking/Alcohol

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted on park property.

PASSENGER BOATING: Non-motorized passenger occupied boating is allowed only on Lake Ellyn. Boating is allowed between sunrise and sunset from May 1 to November 1 by permit only. Permit applications are only to be submitted in person at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Permit Fee: $5. Click here to download the Boating Permit Application

MODEL BOATING: Model boating is allowed on Lake Ellyn and Lake Foxcroft.  “Model Boats” refer to electric or radio-controlled boats or sailboats that have maximum speeds of 15mph or slower.  Model Power Boating is strictly prohibited.  For complete information on Model Boating regulations please refer to the Glen Ellyn Park District Ordinance, Section 4.04 Model Boating.

Fishing

Fishing on Park District waters requires any angler who is 16 years of age and older to carry a valid Illinois fishing license. Fishing license information can be found on the Illinois Department of Natural Resource’s website. All fishing is catch and release only and ice fishing is prohibited. Please refer to Glen Ellyn Park District Ordinance, Section 4.05 Fishing, for complete information.

Hammocks

Hammocks have become very popular in our parks and the Park District has been monitoring the effect the use and the straps have on our trees. We ask that you please follow these safety tips and guidelines when utilizing hammocks in the parks:

  • Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when installing your hammock.
  • Make sure the trees and branches that hammocks are hung from are sturdy and are no less than 4 inches in diameter. Failure to do so will adversely affect the long-term health of the tree
  • Hammocks should be hung no more than 5 feet off the ground. Do not use park equipment such as picnic tables to hang the hammocks
  • Hammocks are not allowed in playgrounds, over hard surfaces, across pathways, or in any area that could have a negative impact on other patrons or park property. This includes railings, shade structures, buildings, etc.
  • Please be respectful,  tread lightly, avoid the natural areas and landscape and clean up after yourself when you are done.

Please note, the Glen Ellyn Park District reserves the right to suspend the use of hammocks if they are being misused, park property is getting damaged, or if the use has a negative impact on  other park patrons. Thank you for your cooperation.

Swimming

Swimming is only allowed at Sunset Pool. Swimming in any other body of water on Park District property is strictly prohibited.

Grilling

Grilling is allowed only at designated grills or with prior approval.
