Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Units at Parks and Facilities

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) assess the patient’s heart rhythm, judge whether defibrillation is needed, and then administer a shock if necessary. They can help save lives during a cardiac emergency or sudden cardiac arrest. As part of the District’s continued effort to provide safe parks and facilities, several AED units are installed or available on-site throughout the District.

Indoor Units

The following facilities have AEDs available for use during normal operation hours, by members, or by groups renting the spaces after hours:

Ackerman SFC (Front Desk & Fitness Center)
Lake Ellyn Boathouse
Holes & Knolls (Front Desk)
Platform Tennis Center (Inside the Paddle Hut)
Main Street Recreation Center (Across from the 2nd Floor Registration Office)
Spring Avenue Recreation Center (Outside the Fitness Center)
Sunset Pool (Manager and Lap Pool Offices)

Outdoor Units

During the warmer months (mid-April to October), AED units are also available at Ackerman, Newton, and Village Green Parks. These units are mounted in a heated and weatherproof cabinet. When removed from the cabinet, a call is placed to 911 to contact emergency personnel.
