July 20, 2020 ComEd and Openlands announced that the Glen Ellyn Park District is one of only three agencies in DuPage County to receive an environmental grant from the organizations through the annual ComEd Green Region Program. The Glen Ellyn Park District has received over $4,000 for a project to assist with natural area improvements at Maryknoll Park. July 10, 2020 Splashtastic news! Reservations are now being accepted for the Maryknoll Splash Park, which is set to open on Saturday, July 11! Visitors will be limited to 50 per 1.5-hour time slot and other measures have been put in place for patron safety. July 8, 2020 Registration is open for Glenbard West and South athletic summer camps! Athletic summer camps are for current Glenbard students only, including incoming freshmen. Registration numbers are limited for some sports due to the current pandemic. Camps will begin Monday, July 13, at various times and locations. DuPage Foundation’s Glen Ellyn Fund awarded its first round of funding to a new “Sustainable Garden Initiative.” The project, proposed by the Environmental Commission, created two permanent demonstration gardens to inspire and inform visitors to Lake Ellyn and Village Green Parks, and builds upon Glen Ellyn’s annual “Sustainable Yard Tour.” Read More »

Ackerman SFC will reopen for outdoor group fitness classes and personal training only beginning on Monday, June 8, as allowed under Phase 3: Recovery guidelines within the Restore Illinois Plan. During this phase, purchase of a $20 Group Fitness Class Pass will be required to preregister for group fitness classes. The pass will be valid from June 8 to July 8, and will enable pass holders to sign up for more than 45 classes each week. All classes will be socially distanced and limited to 10 participants. The Glen Ellyn Cares fundraiser was started by the Chamber in order to assist struggling local restaurant owners by buying meals to be donated to staff at local hospitals. If you are able to help, any level of support makes a difference and is greatly appreciated! Cash or check donations will be accepted from 1pm to 6pm at Ackerman SFC on May 14th. After you donate, a photo backdrop is available so you can customize a thank you sign for essential workers and snap a selfie! Please bring your own marker or pen.

Help ensure a healthy blood supply in Illinois by donating at the upcoming blood drive at Ackerman SFC, 800 St. Charles Road, on Monday, May 18. Appointments, available from 1 to 6pm, are required in order to control the number of people at the site at a given time and to ensure safe social distancing (no walk-ins). Keeping in compliance with our state’s ordinance, donors will be required to bring and wear face masks during the donation process.
