Don’t trash your pumpkins, smash them on Saturday, November 7, from 9 to 11am! Area residents are invited to bring their jack-o-lanterns (no painted pumpkins and please remove all decorations) to be smashed and composted into the soil of the Community Garden Plots at Village Green Park. Due to the facility serving as a polling place and for the safety of our participants, the District will be cancelling or moving classes scheduled to take place at Spring Avenue Recreation Center on Tuesday, November 3rd (Election Day):
- Gymnastics: November 3rd classes are canceled.
- Dance: November 3rd classes will be held at Main Street Recreation Center.
- Spring Avenue Fitness Center: Reservations will not be accepted for the Spring Avenue Fitness Center. Members may use Ackerman SFC with photo ID at no charge.
- Get Fit: Class will not take place on November 3rd.
Classes held at Ackerman SFC and Main Street Recreation Center are not impacted and will be held as scheduled. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

September 10, 2020 Take part in our at-home version of the Glow in the Park Lantern Walk on September 26th and 27th and help raise funds for Lurie Children’s on behalf of our partner, Charlie’s Corner Foundation. $10 lantern kits are for sale at Spring Avenue Recreation Center and proceeds will benefit the NICU at Lurie Children’s Hospital. The Workshop Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Tuesday, September 1, 2020 will begin at 6:00 p.m. instead of its regularly scheduled time of 7:00 p.m. via Zoom platform and will include a Site Tour of Ackerman Park that will begin shortly after the Zoom meeting concludes. August 11, 2020 Power was restored to Spring Avenue Recreation Center at ~6pm on Thursday, August 13. The facility will reopen for normal hours on Friday, August 14. Following Monday’s storm, the District conducted an immediate assessment of all Park District property including facilities, parks, and athletic fields. While experiencing downed trees, fallen limbs and other debris, the District fortunately did not incur any significant damage. Cleanup will take several days and will be prioritized based on safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

August 10, 2020 Glen Ellyn Park District has partnered with B.R. Ryall YMCA to offer Learn & Play, a new remote learning day camp for children entering 1st through 5th grade. The program is designed to provide a safe and fun environment conducive to self-guided learning for children that need all-day care.
