October 7, 2019 The Pumpkin Flotilla Fest is a one-of-a-kind annual fall festival in Glen Ellyn; this year’s event takes place on October 20th. The flotilla is comprised of pumpkins carved by members of the community. When the pumpkins are floated on Lake Ellyn, it creates a wonderful glowing spectacle. Read More »

September 30, 2019 This past weekend, the annual Lakers Fall Classic soccer tournament was cancelled due to extreme weather. Over the years, the event has experienced challenging conditions such as heavy rain, intense heat, extreme cold, and even snow. Unfortunately, Friday’s weather was unprecedented and caused the first cancellation of the entire tournament. The powerful rain and intermittent thunderstorms that began at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and continued (off and on) until 2:00 a.m. on Saturday morning made for unplayable conditions the rest of the weekend, particularly when combined with the low temperatures and continued precipitation throughout parts of Saturday and Sunday. August 22, 2019 The Glen Ellyn Park District is offering classes for ages 15 and up that will teach CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), how and when to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) device, and general First Aid. Skills learned will help attendees know how to handle the situation if a person near them is having a heart attack, or if the person is the victim of a bone fracture, a burn, or other medical emergency. August 14, 2019 Back by popular demand, the Glen Ellyn Park District’s WERQ-a-thon will be held on Saturday, October 12th to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. For those unfamiliar with WERQ, it’s a fun, upbeat, cardio-based dance class with routines choreographed to popular hip hop and pop tunes. The WERQ-a-thon will take place from 12:15 – 2:15 p.m., giving participants plenty of time to dance, party, and raise money for breast cancer research at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn. Play a round of mini golf with glow-in-the-dark golf balls at Glen Ellyn Park District’s Moonlight Madness Mini Golf on Friday, October 4th. This limited-edition golf experience will open at 8 p.m. at Holes & Knolls Miniature Golf Course, 845 Pershing Road, Glen Ellyn.
