Summer 2022 Playbook Coming May 31

Our Summer 2022 Playbook will be published exclusively on our website Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Registration for programs and events featured in this edition opens Saturday, June 4 at 9 a.m. for residents and Saturday, June 11 at 9 a.m. for nonresidents. 

Upcoming Referendum Open House

Residents that would like to learn more about the Glen Ellyn Parks Referendum are encouraged to attend the upcoming Open House on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center. Please feel free to stop by and ask questions so you can make an informed decision when you vote on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta Update and Summer Break at the Lake

Touch-A-Truck Parking

Limited parking is available within Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Avenue. Overflow parking is available near Building 6 at Roosevelt Glen Corporate Center, 799 Roosevelt Road. The overflow lot can be accessed off Nicoll Way or Pershing Avenue. Please use caution when crossing Route 53 and utilize the pedestrian crosswalk. We kindly ask that you follow all posted signage. Glen Ellyn Park District seeks bond referendum for park improvements, upgrades, and expansion

Funds will be used to upgrade park properties, improve Sunset Pool and Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center and add new park lands.

April 20, 2022 – The Glen Ellyn Park District today announced it is pursuing a $15.9 million bond referendum to raise revenue to repair, improve and expand facilities, upgrade four park properties spread throughout the district, and purchase additional land for parks. The referendum question will be on the June 28, 2022 election ballot.

The Park District Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to put the referendum to a public vote. “We conducted community-wide surveys in late 2021 and early 2022, and our residents were pretty aligned in identifying a series of projects they would like to see us undertake,” said Alex Durham, Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners president. “With a strong directive from our residents, our board voted unanimously to put the referendum on the June 2022 ballot.” Read More »

Blood & Food Drive on April 26

Blood Drive: Every day more than 10,000 patients rely on the generosity of blood donors to survive. Please take about an hour out of your day and donate at our blood drive on April 26 at Ackerman SFC. Every donation can save a live! Appointments are encouraged; walk-ins welcome. Food Drive: Donations of non-perishable foods and toiletries will be accepted at Ackerman SFC from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 26. Drive up to the main entrance to donate and we’ll do the rest! All items collected will be delivered to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. For a list of the Pantry’s current top needs, visit their website at glenellynfoodpantry.org.

Vaccine Clinic on April 23

Glen Ellyn Park District, Jewel-Osco Pharmacy, and State Representative Terra Costa Howard are hosting a joint vaccine clinic on April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road. Coronavirus Update: Mask Policy

On February 9, Governor Pritzker announced plans to partially lift Illinois’ indoor mask mandate as of February 28, assuming state COVID metrics continue to decline.

As the Glen Ellyn Park District has done throughout the pandemic, we will adhere to State requirements by implementing a mask optional approach within Park District programs, events, and facilities for participants, visitors, and staff, effective Monday, February 28. Prior to that date, all participants, patrons, and employees must still wear face coverings inside Park District buildings. Read More »

Nearly 20,000 pounds of groceries for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry collected by Park District in 2021

Glen Ellyn Park District collected a total of 1,776 bags, or roughly 19,536 pounds, of food and toiletry donations for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry in 2021. Items were collected over the course of 13 drives offered in partnership with Kiwanis Club of Central DuPage and State Representative Terra Costa Howard. As a result of these efforts, the Glen Ellyn Park District and its partners have been named the Pantry’s largest donors through food drives in 2021. Read More »

3v3 Pop-Up Pond Hockey Tournament on January 29

Ice hockey players, show your skills against other teams on Saturday, January 29. The Glen Ellyn Park District is excited to announce our NEW 3v3 Pop-Up Pond Hockey Tournament on Lake Ellyn. Teams of three to five players will compete in a bracket style tournament and are guaranteed three games. Divisions are available for ages 9 and up. Fee is $100 per team with proceeds benefiting the Glen Ellyn Park District Scholarship Fund. Read More »

Covid-19 Update: Spectator, Face Covering, and Parking Reminders

Due to the current surge in Covid-19 transmissions, the Glen Ellyn Park District is encouraging patrons to limit the number spectators/attendees at indoor events and programs within District facilities, including Winter Youth Basketball games and the Indoor Soccer league. Supervisors will email program specific guidance as needed to registered participants.

As a reminder, all individuals 2 years or age and over who can medically tolerate a face covering are required to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when in an indoor public place per Executive Order 21-22.

With many District programs starting this week, be sure to allow additional time for parking and use caution when driving through District lots. In addition, please stay home if you are feeling sick or are experiencing and Covid-19 symptoms in order to reduce community spread.
