Kindergarten Enrichment

2021-2022 School Year Information

Registration is now in progress for 2021-2022 Kindergarten Enrichment

About the Program

Kindergarten Enrichment extends the learning day for children attending half-day Kindergarten. Our goal is to provide a unique program which sparks curiosity and imagination in an encouraging environment. It’s also a perfect stepping stone to all day Kindergarten.

The enrichment class builds upon the curriculum taught in your child’s regular morning or afternoon Kindergarten class by weaving academic concepts with project-based learning. This allows them to grow, academically and socially, in the areas of motor skills, language arts, music, and creative arts. Classes offer a balance of both structured and unstructured activities. Activity areas to choose from include:

  • Blocks
  • Quiet time
  • Dramatic play
  • Small and large motor activities
  • Music
  • Art
  • Literacy
  • Science/discovery
  • Math

Kindergarten Enrichment takes place at Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Avenue. Both morning and afternoon sessions are available. Parents can choose to enroll their child in either Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday classes. We follow School District 41’s attendance schedule.

Lunches

Supervised lunchtime is available for participants. Please send a sack lunch if you plan to have your child eat lunch at Kindergarten Enrichment. Morning students can stay after class from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a lunch period. Afternoon students can come at 12 p.m. to eat lunch before class begins at 12:30 p.m.

Busing

Busing to/from Main Street Recreation Center is not available.

New Procedures for 2020-2021

The health and safety of our participants is paramount and we’re implementing a modified operations plan for this school year. We will have new social-distancing measures, wellness standards, more intense cleaning and sanitizing procedures, face covering requirements, new drop-off and pick-up protocol, and more in place. Our modified operations are subject to change based on further guidance from local, state, and federal authorities.
