Notice of Public Meeting

Notice is hereby given that a public meeting (open house) on the proposed Newton Park OSLAD Playground Renovation Project for the Glen Ellyn Park District will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2021, and will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Newton Park Shelter, located at 707 Fairview Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Important Update on Phase 5 of Illinois’ Reopening Plan

If Illinois meets all metrics, the State could move to Phase 5 as early as Friday, June 11. As we have done throughout the pandemic, the District will evolve and adjust operations as quickly as possible once guidance is received from the State and Illinois Department of Public Health. Anticipated changes include increased capacity limits, elimination of the reservation system for Sunset Pool and Maryknoll Splash Park, and addition of a Sunset Pool season pass option. Please look for more details mid-week. We appreciate your patience and look forward to continued progress toward normalcy.

Summer 2021 Playbook Now Available Online

Notice of Meeting Cancellation

Notice is hereby given that the Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners has cancelled their Workshop Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 1, 2021. The next meeting of Board Commissioners will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and via Zoom, and will begin at its normal time of 7:00 p.m.

Park District Mask Requirement Update

On Monday, May 17, Governor Pritzker issued an updated executive order to align Illinois mask guidance with the CDC, lifting the mask mandate and social distancing requirements for fully vaccinated individuals in most settings. Drive-Thru Drop-Off Food Drive on May 27

Help fill the shelves at Glen Ellyn Food Pantry so they can continue to make hunger history. If you are able, please consider donating non-perishable food items and toiletries any time between 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Thursday, May 27, at Ackerman SFC, 800 St. Charles Road. Those wishing to donate should drive up to the main entrance and stay in their vehicles. Volunteers will unload their donations. View the Pantry’s needs list »

Free COVID-19 Vaccine Pop-Up Clinic for Age 12+

UPDATE: The clinic will now accept drop-ins until 3pm on May 18. The FDA has expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to include adolescents 12 through 15 years of age, and this clinic will offer first dose vaccinations on Tuesday, May 18, with second dose appointments automatically scheduled on Wednesday, June 9. Four elected to Board of Commissioners

On April 6, 2021, the community elected as Glen Ellyn Park District Park Board of Commissioners Julia Nephew, Michael Ward, Alex Durham, and Rob Weber for four-year terms. The new Board members will be seated at the Park Board meeting on May 18, 2021. Prior to that date, the election commission has 21 days to canvass votes and make results official. In anticipation of the outcome, the Glen Ellyn Park District congratulates the newly elected Board members and thanks Jake Pool for extending the time and effort to run as a write-in candidate.

57th Glen Ellyn Community Awards

Tim Clark, our 2020 Park District Volunteer of the Year, will be recognized during the 57th Glen Ellyn Community Awards next Wednesday. The event will be held virtually and may be viewed from the comfort of your home, or you can join a watch party at select Glen Ellyn restaurants. Sunset Pool 2021 Season Update

Lifeguards Wanted

We’re looking for more lifeguards! Make a difference every day while learning skills and gaining valuable experience. Applicants must be at least 15 years old. COVID-19 Vaccine Opportunity for Glen Ellyn Seniors 65 years +

Update: All time slots for the clinic are now full.

The Village of Glen Ellyn, the Glen Ellyn Public Library, and the Glen Ellyn Park District are working together to immunize our community. According to the CDC, people ages 65 and older are at greater risk for severe illness or death due to COVID-19. Please help us find and contact these priority individuals so they can be vaccinated next week at a pop-up clinic right here in Glen Ellyn. If you know someone who lives and/or works in Glen Ellyn and is 65 or older, have them call the Glen Ellyn Vaccine Hotline at (331) 251-8609. Calls will be answered daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until all appointments are filled. Those who register for an appointment will receive the first dose on Thursday, March 25 followed by the second dose on Thursday, April 15.
