Chocolate, Cheese, and Wine Event Raises $4,000 for Park District Scholarship Fund

This year’s Chocolate, Cheese, and Wine event raised $4,000 for the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Scholarship Fund, which enables residents in need to receive financial assistance for Park District programs and activities. Chocolate, Cheese, and Wine is offered in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce, who presented the check at the Park Board meeting on Tuesday, February 19. Read More »

Glen Ellyn Park District Releases 2018 Annual Report

The Glen Ellyn Park District has published its Annual Report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2018. Within the Annual Report are highlights of the Park District’s 2018 financial results and achievements. The report also contains information on natural area restoration projects, community events, partnerships, athletics and upcoming projects for 2019.

Glen Ellyn Park District Receives $400,000 OSLAD Grant

The Glen Ellyn Park District was awarded a $400,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant by Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The OSLAD grant will fund a portion of the planned phase IV improvements at Ackerman Park, which includes renovation of the softball “hub”, an artificial turf athletic field, irrigation and drainage upgrades, bioswales, improved grass fields, an outdoor exercise area, and a trail system throughout the entire park. Notice of Meeting Cancellation: February 5

Notice is hereby given that the Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners has cancelled their Workshop Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2019. The next meeting of Board Commissioners will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and will begin at its normal time of 7:00 p.m.

Lake Ellyn Ice Update: January 25

Due the inconsistent weather conditions experienced this winter, the current conditions of the ice on Lake Ellyn is unstable and in poor condition. However, based on weather forecasts, it is anticipated the ice will finally reach the required thickness of 8” by next week.

Shop with a Cop 2018

On Saturday, December 1, Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center hosted the annual “Shop with a Cop” event. Children start their day at Ackerman SFC having breakfast with Santa Claus and participating in games and activities before heading out to shop for holiday gifts escorted and transported by a law enforcement officer within their squad car. This is a very special event for the Officers and the children involved and the Park District is happy to be able to provide the location for the day!

Organized by members of the Glen Ellyn Police Department in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Park District and the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, the event is designed to help children in need throughout DuPage County by providing them with funds to buy presents and essentials for themselves and their family. Over 100 children and 110 police officers from 10 local units participated in this year’s event. Click here to view photos from the event.
