WERQ-ing to Support Breast Cancer Research

Back by popular demand, the Glen Ellyn Park District’s WERQ-a-thon will be held on Saturday, October 12th to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. For those unfamiliar with WERQ, it’s a fun, upbeat, cardio-based dance class with routines choreographed to popular hip hop and pop tunes. The WERQ-a-thon will take place from 12:15 – 2:15 p.m., giving participants plenty of time to dance, party, and raise money for breast cancer research at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn. One Day Only: Glow-in-the-Dark Golf at Holes & Knolls

Play a round of mini golf with glow-in-the-dark golf balls at Glen Ellyn Park District’s Moonlight Madness Mini Golf on Friday, October 4th. This limited-edition golf experience will open at 8 p.m. at Holes & Knolls Miniature Golf Course, 845 Pershing Road, Glen Ellyn. Newton Park Improvements 2020: Public Meeting on July 31

Glen Ellyn Park District will be applying for a State of Illinois Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant regarding proposed improvements to Newton Park for 2020. The District had previously identified existing assets within the park that are due to be replaced and/or renovated in the next two years because of age and life expectancy. Those assets include the playground and skate park components. If successful in obtaining additional funding, the scope of the project would be increased, and added improvements could be implemented.

An open house for the public will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at Newton Park underneath the picnic shelter from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at which time, preliminary information regarding the proposed improvements will be available. Read More »

School is out and fun is in with Winter Break Camps!

If you’re looking for an affordable way to keep your kids active and challenged during winter break, sign them up for our Ackerman Sports & Fun Winter Break Camps! Camps are available for single days, so you can book just the days you need around the holidays. Two 3-hour time slots are available on each day starting at 9am and 12:30pm. Campers sign up by age in either the sessions for ages 5-8 or for ages 9-12.

These fun athletic camps focus on basic sports and include creative athletic games with a twist. Read More »
