Back to School Bash Set for August 9 at Sunset Pool

Youth in sixth to eighth grades are invited to celebrate the start of the new school year, and the last days of summer, with a night swim and games at our “Back to School Bash” on Friday, August 9. The event takes place from 8 to 10 p.m. at Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Ave., Glen Ellyn. “Back to School Bash” is free to attend, but students must show a valid school ID at the gate to gain entry. Incoming 6th graders or students without a school ID must have a parent check them in.

Extreme Heat Reminders

A period of extreme heat is predicted for Thursday through Saturday, with temperatures into the 90s and 100s. Staff will be following our heat guidelines over the next few days as decisions or accommodations are made regarding events and programs. Get Ready for a Tropical Time at the Daddy Daughter Luau

Aloha, dads! Bring your daughters, ages 5 to 12, to the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Hawaiian-themed “Daddy Daughter Luau” on Thursday, August 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This special evening will be one for the books, filled with dancing, limbo contests, water balloon tosses, a photo booth, music, and more. Hot dogs, chips, and a beverage will be served. The event takes place at Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Ave., Glen Ellyn. Registration is required to attend.

Sign your child up by July 20 for the 2K19 for Kids Fun Run

Kids will run a 1.25 mile race with fun, exciting, and age-appropriate challenges at each half mile on Saturday, August 3rd. The $20 resident fee ($25 for non-residents) includes a timing bib, t-shirt, 100-Year Anniversary drawstring backpack, and post-race snacks. The 2K19 for Kids Fun Run is open to ages 4-10. Freedom Four™ and Afternoon Festivities Parking 2019

Residents are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to the Glen Ellyn Park District’s 4th of July events (Freedom Four™ 4-Mile Run and Afternoon Festivities), as there is no parking on Lenox or the roads surrounding Lake Ellyn Park. The commuter parking lots, including the Duane and Lorraine parking lot, will remain open. Family Fun Night Features Live Kids’ Music, Rides, Crafts

Come out to Lake Ellyn Park on Wednesday, July 17th for free entertainment and kids’ activities presented by the Glen Ellyn Park District. Cardboard Regatta: Where to Park

Planning to drive to the Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta on Saturday? Please be sure to follow posted signage if parking on the streets surrounding Lake Ellyn Park. Additional parking is available in the Glenbard West parking lot across from Duchon Field and in the Metra commuter lots in downtown Glen Ellyn. For additional parking options in downtown Glen Ellyn, please view the Village’s interactive parking map by clicking here. Due to the popularity of this event, we recommend carpooling or getting dropped off when possible.

Notice is hereby given that the Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners has changed the start time for their Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, 2019. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, will now begin at 6:30 p.m.

Cardboard Boats Set Sail in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, June 29, 2019

Build a boat made out of cardboard and race it across Lake Ellyn, or come cheer on race participants, at the annual Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta on Saturday, June 29. The event takes place at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn. Races begin at noon, but spectators are invited to view each boat as the crews prepare for the big moment starting at 10 a.m. and to grab food truck fare beginning at 11 a.m. Boat preregistration is required for $50 per boat by Friday, June 28 at noon; admission to watch the fun on race day is free.

Reel in fun at the Gone Fishin’ Derby on June 15

Kids can cast their lines at the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Gone Fishin’ Derby on Saturday, June 15. The annual event will once again take place at Lake Ellyn Park (645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn) from 8am-9:30am. The $10 registration fee per child ($15 for non-residents) includes bait, activities, snacks, and a chance to win trophies! Touch-A-Truck: Where to Park

Planning to make your way over to Touch-A-Truck on Saturday? Limited parking will be available within Maryknoll Park. Overflow parking is available near Building 6 at Roosevelt Glen Corporate Center (799 Roosevelt Road) or at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center (185 Spring Avenue). A complimentary shuttle will run every 15 minutes from the overflow parking areas to the event area. We kindly request that you use caution when driving in the area and follow all posted signage.
