Register by Jan. 31, 2018 for Bulldogs Lacrosse

For those unfamiliar with one of the fastest growing team sports in the country, Lacrosse is a clever combination of soccer, hockey, and basketball. It’s played with a stick (the crosse), which is used to catch, scoop, and throw a small rubber ball into the goal (net) of the opposing team. “Happy Fall” takes top honors in the 2017 Fall Photo Contest

In this moment, it was like time stood still. The brisk air, red-orange fallen leaves, and grass that remained a most magnificent green late into the season presented itself to this year’s first-place winning photographer. Capturing not only one of the greatest symbols of fall in our area, our first-place winner, Emily Kroculick, positions a subject in front of the lens throwing the season into the air. Personal Trainer Highlight: Eric Su

Like many personal trainers, Eric Su played a lot of sports as a young man. He had well-rounded interests, including football, basketball, and tennis. But after breaking an ankle, which required surgery to repair, he spent time in physical therapy to further his recovery. “Physical therapy opened my eyes to how I could help people,” said Su, a Personal Trainer for the Glen Ellyn Park District. “I decided to learn more about how I could make it a career.” Read More »

Park District Offers New Futsal Soccer League for Boys and Girls

An interesting new sport is now offered through the Glen Ellyn Park District: Futsal soccer. According to Brad Thomas, Recreation Supervisor for the park district, the Futsal name comes from the Spanish term “Futbol Sala”, which translates to “Indoor Football”, or in the U.S., “Indoor Soccer”. Apply Today for Summer Jobs

The Park District is accepting applications for summer jobs from now – February 28, 2018. Available positions include lifeguard, swim instructor, and camp counselor. The District is also seeking support staff for Sunset Pool, Holes & Knolls Mini Golf, and the Splash Park. Applications are only accepted online.

“Shop with a Cop” Returns December 2, 2017 – Limited Parking at Ackerman SFC

Please note, during this event, the main lot of Ackerman SFC will be temporarily closed to stage the over 100 police cars. The facility will remain open and parking will be available within Ackerman Park in the lot east of the building. We apologize for any convenience but appreciate your support of this very worthy event.

Gymnastics offers a variety of health, social, and mental benefits

If your children have expressed interest in learning gymnastics, or if you’d like them to benefit from regular physical exercise and an outlet for excess energy, sign them up for a gymnastics class through the Glen Ellyn Park District. Ackerman SFC Parking Lot Repairs

Parking lot repairs are scheduled for Ackerman SFC on Wednesday, November 8. The scheduled repairs include filling potholes and work on the entrance road and main lot in order to provide a better parking experience this winter. The repairs should take approximately 1-2 hours and should have little to no impact patron parking.

The Ackerman SFC parking lot improvement project was delayed when a $439,290 IGIG grant awarded to the Park District was put on hold by the State of Illinois.
