July 31, 2017 On Monday, August 21, a solar eclipse will take place across the United States. The moon will begin to blot out the sun in Chicago beginning at 11:54am and cover up to 87% of the sun’s surface by 1:19pm. Planning to watch the eclipse? Be sure to practice safe solar-viewing guidelines. Download a handout from the American Astronomical Society on how to view the 2017 solar eclipse safely.

July 28, 2017 The first phase of construction that has taken place on the south side of the parking lot has been completed and will be open Friday, July 28th. Phase two will begin shortly after the first phase has been completed and includes the renovation of the north side of the parking lot, a new paved walkway leading from the parking lot to the Dog Park, and new entrance and exit Dog Park gates. July 26, 2017 Notice is hereby given that the Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners has canceled their Workshop Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2017. The next meeting of Board Commissioners will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and will begin at the normally scheduled time of 7 PM.

The Lake Ellyn Park playground, along with other park improvements, should be substantially completed as of Saturday, July 8 (weather dependent). On that date, it is expected that the playground should be open for play. The Park District was optimistic that the site would be available beginning July 1, but due to extenuating circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to safely open on Saturday for the holiday weekend.
