The Glen Ellyn Park District referendum request for $15.9 million to repair, improve and expand facilities, upgrade four park properties throughout the district, and purchase additional land for parks has been approved, according to preliminary results as reported by DuPage County Clerk – Election Division.

June 27, 2022 This year’s Primary Election is held Tuesday, June 28, 2022. It is a very important date because you will be able to vote for candidates pursuing elected office, and you have the opportunity to vote on the Glen Ellyn Park District bond referendum.
This $15.9 million bond referendum will raise revenue to repair, improve and expand park facilities, upgrade four parks spread across the district, and purchase additional land for parks. If approved, the referendum will benefit these specific projects:
- Improve, equip and maintain Sunset Pool
- Expand, improve, equip and maintain Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center
- Improve, equip and maintain Babcock Grove Park, Churchill Park, Lake Foxcroft Park, and the Lenox Road parcel
- Make additional park and athletic improvements district wide
- Acquire land to expand parks in the future
As a Glen Ellyn resident, you can vote at any DuPage County voting site. June 24, 2022 The Referendum Open House scheduled for Saturday, June 25 has been moved the inclement weather location, Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Avenue. Residents are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk, as there is no parking on Lenox or the roads surrounding Lake Ellyn Park. The commuter parking lots, including the Duane and Lorraine parking lot and the Civic Center parking garage, will remain open. Please click here to view the Village of Glen Ellyn’s interactive parking map and be sure to follow all posted signage. Limited parking will be available in the Glenbard West parking lot across from Duchon Field for Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk participants. All cars must be removed from this lot by 10:00 a.m.

June 16, 2022 Early voting in the June 28 Primary Election started Monday, June 13. Through June 25, residents can vote early at 13 temporary early voting sites throughout DuPage County. Voting hours at these sites are 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. In Glen Ellyn, early voting is available at Glen Ellyn Public Library, 400 Duane St.
Voters will have the opportunity to vote on the Glen Ellyn Park District referendum, which is also on the ballot. The Glen Ellyn Park District referendum is on the second page for the Republican and Democrat ballot, and is the first question in the “Initiatives” section. For those who select the Non-Partisan ballot, the referendum is the first or only question. You will be asked to vote on the following question: Shall the Glen Ellyn Park District, DuPage County, Illinois, improve, equip and maintain Sunset Pool, expand, improve, equip and maintain Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, improve, equip and maintain other parks and park facilities, acquire land for park purposes, and issue its bonds to the amount of $15,900,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?
An additional nine permanent early voting sites will be open through June 27. These sites are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

May 2, 2022 Limited parking is available within Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Avenue. Overflow parking is available near Building 6 at Roosevelt Glen Corporate Center, 799 Roosevelt Road. The overflow lot can be accessed off Nicoll Way or Pershing Avenue. Please use caution when crossing Route 53 and utilize the pedestrian crosswalk. We kindly ask that you follow all posted signage. April 20, 2022 – The Glen Ellyn Park District today announced it is pursuing a $15.9 million bond referendum to raise revenue to repair, improve and expand facilities, upgrade four park properties spread throughout the district, and purchase additional land for parks. The referendum question will be on the June 28, 2022 election ballot.
The Park District Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to put the referendum to a public vote. “We conducted community-wide surveys in late 2021 and early 2022, and our residents were pretty aligned in identifying a series of projects they would like to see us undertake,” said Alex Durham, Glen Ellyn Park District Board of Commissioners president. “With a strong directive from our residents, our board voted unanimously to put the referendum on the June 2022 ballot.” Read More »
